I thought it was meant to have no answer, and to get a person thinking about stuff like how we define the world and our experiences.

It does make a sound. Just nobody's around to hear it.

When nobody's at home, do any of the things that typically make a sound suddenly stop making a sound as soon as the last resident goes out? Clocks ticking, for example.
