Most Embarassing Moment?
Several years ago I worked graveyard shifts while taking day classes in college. One day I was in a 9am class with about 30 or so students. I was very tired having been up since about 8pm the night before. I sat in the back of the class. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I think I nodded off and my head hit the desk hard enough to make a loud bang and wake myself up. I pop up in my chair, eyes open wide, and EVERY...SINGLE...PERSON...in the room was staring at me.
Even further back, when I was in high school, I was walking down a hall and saw a girl I had a crush on, but couldn't talk to. She was walking the opposite direction. I turned to watch her. I didn't see the pole.
What made it better was the loud ringing sound from hitting the pole and the laughter of the other students around me.
The funny thing is I can't even remember her name or what she looked like.
Most of the time though my embarassing moments tend to involve me tripping over uneven ground, falling down (or up) stairs, or just tripping over my own feet.
I could keep going, but what's left of my pride won't let me.
At 16 I was in love with a guy. As I passed him in the room, I managed to lose my balance and almost trip. As I did, my arm touched his crotch… Actually, hitting his crotch was the thing stopping me from falling. This must have been the worst one for me.
Some other embarassing moments: Accidentally going into the boys’ locker room in elementary school.
Entering the class room and sitting down, not even noticing at first that the people there weren’t in my class. Happened at both junior high and high school.
As a teen I was once on the subway with my mother and our dog. A sound spooked my dog and she jumped from my mother’s lap and over the back of the seat to the seat behind us, landing at a man. Thankfully he just laughed.
At 10 a teacher, some kids from my school and I had to walk a beam over a ditch. It was narrow. Only one managed to fall down in the ditch, making the others turn and stare at me, lying there on the mud and gasoline drenched ground.
Regularly wetting my bed until age 11.
Boasting to my father that I knew how to touch stinging nettle without hurting my hand. I grabbed the plant hard but forgot my pinky and was burned. (ca 9).
Last year I babysat my neighbour’s wild disobedient dog, a Jack Russell terrier. I took her for a long nice walk and on the way home I stopped at a gas station to buy 2 hot dogs, one for each of us. I sat down at a table to enjoy. The dog jumped up on me, trying to steal my hot dog, then on to the table almost toppling my Pepsi bottle. When I tried to scold her, she jumped down growling and tried to chase the other customers there (and would have if she hadn’t been leashed), barking rabidly. The stares I got!
Getting a good wet gift on my head from a passing dove at 23 was also quite memorable.
At ca 21 I was walking my dog when I noticed a sexy officer from the military base nearby. I looked at him and he smiled at me. I kept walking, eyes glued to him. For a second I turned to look at my dog, and thanks heavens I did! I was less than a metre from walking right into a lamp post! Was that why he was smiling?
At high school we watched the movie ”Of mice and men”. It was so boring I fell asleep. I soon woke up. What woke me up? My own loud snore! Frankly, I'm not too embarassed by this one, I was just afraid of getting caught.

Unfortunately, true. I once thought this other woman was my friend. We had talked on the phone a few times, and I invited her to go someplace with me. We met at the designated spot, and I saw that she had brought another lady with her. We were supposed to catch the bus from there. I was reading the schedule, when I happened to look up unexpectedly, and see the two women grimacing at each other, and then glancing guiltily at me. I realized that she had been laughing at me all along, and had only agreed to hang out so that she could bring someone else and laugh at me too.
Those women are the ones who should feel embarrassed about that, not you. They are the ones whose behavior was abhorrent.
I'm sorry to hear that happened to you though.

Thanks. That means a lot.

Ooh, those are pretty good, aspiegirl. I don't think I have any really conspicuous public-humiliation ones like that. The most recent embarrassing thing I can remember is when I was talking with my employer and her mom, and I accidentally implied that they were both fat.
Detail: So, we're a small company in the comic business, so we were at a comic convention. If you've never been to one, there are always a few HUGE people in spandex costumes. We were talking about bad looking costumes, and I mentioned costumes that were inappropriate for "plus sizes", and the mom said something in return, something like "Aaaw, plus sized cosplayers aren't so bad, are they?" I can't remember the exact exchange of words. But then I realized what I may have implied, and said "But not, like, your size. No one here [meaning the little group of us] is what I'd call plus-sized." Because they weren't, they're both just mildly chubby. Oh crap, right?
I don't even know what counts as plus-sized. The sizes in stores are so screwed up, maybe they DO shop in the plus-sized section. OTL;;; I was just talking about really gigantic people who think it's a good idea to prance around in a little leotard with a mini-skirt pretending to be a character who's skinny/fit. (It's really the horrible judgment call that I'm opposed to, not so much the fat.)

At fifteen, a guy and I were crushing on each other. We were on an old school bus on the way back from a river rafting trip, late at night. We were leaning forward on the seat in front of us and talking to each other, and I must have drifted off to sleep for a second. When I came to, he had this horrified look on his face and I realized my finger was up his nose. I have no idea why or how...
Sadly, the romance ended then and there. ![]()

1.Having my first "defining moment" of womanhood in seventh grade math class and being sent home (luckily I lived only 3 blocks away). ...
2.Making animal noises on a seventh grade weeklong trip in Kananaskis for a science trip and thinking everyone in the class thought I was funny when in fact they actually were laughing AT me.
3.Dancing at school dances....I suck at dancing and at the time thought I was good...many laughed at me and since then, I never dance in a public social setting.
4.Throwing up in front of everyone at safegrad after consuming large amounts of vodka.
5. Being brought to tears due to being humiliated and laughed at by bullies whom of which were joined by the rest of the class in grade 9.
6.Saying wrong things at the wrong time...and many other "social blunders" I got myself into.
