I don't see the point in forcing a burp out just to impress everybody by saying ''yay look at me, I can make the world's loudest burp!'' It's just stupid and unfunny. A natural burp, even if it comes out loud, is ironically more funny.

It's like once I somehow stumbled across burping contests and stuff on Youtube, and most of them were of girls in their teens and 20's, dressed like tarts, shrieking and yelling excitably, and forcing out burps that sounded so unnatural that it's hard to know why people praised them up so much in the comments. Then other videos came up where people of both genders and all ages were drinking carbonated drinks or eating loads of food and were burping naturally. Call me sad but I found those videos much more funny.

Swallowing gulps of air and using every muscle in their body to force out the air as a burp sounding like a motorcycle is not funny.

I've also thought that people are required to burp. It's like passing gas. However I had a teacher who would tell the class that people don't actually have to burp and that it was a disgusting thing to do.

I used to have a teacher that would say ridiculous/far fetched things like that, she didn't like me since I usually questioned it/told her she was wrong. Yes people have to burp, it's getting rid of excess air in the digestive tract. A nice loud burp can certainly be satisfying.

if you don't burp it will come out later as a fart. if you do neither it will come out the pores of your skin and from your lungs as you breathe. if you do none of those things, then you die and rot and stink worse than if you had just gone ahead and burped and farted in the first place.

Your teacher is stupid, burping is a natural bodily function and I'll do it wherever so my stomach doesn't hurt.

the people in my family [the males at least] mostly have hiatal hernias, that seems to make us burp a lot compared to joe average. some perfectly constructed people may congenitally be incapable of generating much gas in their digestive systems.

It depends on the culture. In the Far East, if you didn't belch after a meal, that would be considered rude to the host. It's only the prudes here in the West that get their knickers in a bunch that consider burping and flatulence to be rude and offensive.

I wonder if the puritans were anti-gas?

I don't burp much, only once or twice after a meal, and when I drink carbonated drinks.

I have got hiccups before where a burp has come up each time I hiccup. That sometimes happens if I have drank too much carbonated drink when eating too much fatty foods, so the bubbles get trapped in my chest and uncontrollably come up as a gross burp when I do a hiccup.

People should be required by law to belch for their own well being.

My sister's known to have the loudest burps in my family, and used to actually hold burping contests after meals with my dad. >///< Of course they never did it in public, but now if I'm deliberately loud after doing it and giggle like a juvenile little kid afterwards, I get chastised by my wife, lol.

However, it is certainly natural and needed in some cases. I have chronic costochondritis, which affects the upper regions of my ribcage, and if I have gas bubbles stuck in my chest, they feel like I'm being cut open. It's the worst pain I've ever felt, and the only way to elevate it is to get myself to belch.

I consider it a challenge to speak complete sentences while burping. most of the time I just say "beeelllchh."

But then you would have a problem with methane gas if everyone and their brother, sister, pets and bovine companions decided to let loose at once  .
