You know you're bored when...

Cats (and animals in general) aren't just a special interest to me. They were a lifeline to me in hard times and a source of joy in the good times.

I don't really get bored unless I'm waiting for something like a bus.

I agree, Joe90. I get incredibly bored (and sometimes, anxious) when waiting for someone.

I'm only bored when I have to do something I find boring (school was a prime example (and some subjects even more than others), most chores another).

I don't understand the concept of being bored when you are free to do what you want, and to be honest it always surprises me all the more when I see it mentioned on here, on a forum for people with strong special interests/ obsessions

Depression & AD[H]D are pretty common coborbids for Aspergers. Depression can cause loss of interest(or pleasure) & AD[H]D can cause problems with focusing. Us Aspies do tend to have our special interests but experiencing a loss of interest(or pleasure) from things or problems focusing on our special interests, can lead to boredom. It's also possible for us to get burn-out on things sometimes either due to stress or because we need a break from our special interests.

You're trying to find something new to watch on YouTube so you go to Trending even though the videos listed there are nearly always very stupid and not worth watching. In fact they're so stupid you only really check Trending once a month or so to just to see if they're *still* stupid. Yep, they still are.

You feel guilty for being bored because you know that people who are intelligent and imaginative are good at keeping themselves entertained, and you think of the times people have called you intelligent and imaginative and you feel twinges of "imposter syndrome".

You either sleep a lot more to escape the boredom, or can't sit still and wander all over the place you're in.

You listen to the same songs over and over again.
