I'm not extremely shy but people think I am because of my quiet voice and withdrawn attitude. I don't love or hate it. I just wish people were more accepting.

Me to.

Good point, Tuf... it's the social anxiety that's the problem... I can go with that.

Basically I don't like, but the good bit of it is that I don't waste much time trying to interact with people I regard as idiots.

I agree.

There's a difference even though extroverts don't get that and NT extroverts especially don't get that.

Introversion is caused by me being aspie. Shyness is caused by my social anxiety :(

In case anyone's wondering. Shyness = fear of other people. Introversion = preference for being alone.

Aren't introversion and shyness two pretty similar things.

Similar, but not identical. Being introverted means that being around people drains your energy, and you have to have enough time alone to "recharge" (whereas extroverts are energized by being around and interacting with other people, and there are also "ambiverts" who need just the right balance of social interaction and alone time).

Shyness is pretty much social anxiety, meaning you get nervous around or interacting with people.

It is entirely possible for someone to be introverted but not shy, or even shy but not introverted.

My personal definition of Shyness is being being reserved or being nervous or anxious around other people. Shyness and Social Anxiety aren't the same exact thing.

The reason why I accept the fact i'm a very shy person is that I never really liked or cared for social interaction at all.

The reason I can be shy at times is because people can be very unpredictable. I don't know how people are going to respond to be or what things they're going to call me.

I'm introverted and I'm not shy.

I can make my way through almost any human interaction. It costs me energy and I rarely enjoy it but I can. So I'm not shy.
I prefer not to interact with people. I enjoy solitude. I am comfortable left alone. This is introversion.

I often act the way others likely interpret as shy. This way I save my energy. Some extroverts sometimes get it backwards, believing I was just shy and need some encouragement... I hate it.
