I am kinda a mod on another site.
It all started off when (And this is funny looking back.. Is a Christian site) first, one moderator was banned from the site. Then two ladies became moderators that knew each other and lived near each other etc. Well. They had a wierd concept on the Bible which was not scriptural, but is a modern way of thinking. I happened to challenge it and I said what the scriptures say about the subject. (I can never remember most of the chapters or verses but I can remember what they say). One of them muted me and temporarily kicked me out!
Well. Some time passed and something happened where they took offense to the site owner and they both left. As I happened to be on the site more then most and was deemed sensible (Err! Me? Haha!
) I then was asked to be a moderator and later one or two others were added. (Prior to this there were other moderators but they rarely came on the site).
So I found myself to be a moderator.
Later the site owner decided he wanted to sell the site. A moderator who became a mod after I did went into negotiations and the site was sold. Unfortunately the format of the site could not be transferred to the new owner as the new owner had decided to opt for a cheaper format, as the previous owner had also decided to put the site for sale because the people who do the site design etc (Is it hosting?) had decided to massively raise their prices to silly levels.
So the new owner had a new design. He called it a new name, and the last site was closed... But a large chunk of the last site is in a section of the new site on the forum part (There is a live chat part which I was a moderator with).
This went fine and I became a moderator for the section of the old forum bit (Which I still am... A relatively easy job as it is not often used) and the chat part. A friend from Ireland who I had met on the site also became a moderator of the chat part and he still is.
Then my Mums computer stopped working. My brother bought e and my Mum somebudget tablets. These lasted for a couple of years before they expired. My Irish friend missed me chatting to him, so when he came over for a holiday, he bought me a little tablet device.
Unfortunately, since I have been using the tablets I could not sign into the chat part as the moderator, but it let me sign in as a guest. This is ok by me, and my Irish friend has become the moderator.
The chat part does not like a lot of people in it, so if too many people come in it chucks someone out. We lost a few members because they thought us moderators were chucking them out! Oops!
The site owner is close to retirement age. He is self employed and does not have much spare time, and he usually checks the forum part late at night.
My Mum was given a computer by an elderly lady wr know who had bought another one, but the lady said I, and my brothers are not allowed to touch it. It is for my Mum. Unfortunately my Mum does not know how to use it, and I can't tell her as I don't really know either (And I promised I would not use it)... Only my two brothers know the ins and outs of these modern computers as I trained on the old Commodore Pet and the BBC Micro which ran off Basic... (Commodore 64 type if thing) so when the modern computers came in, though I used them with pre programmed things like CAD CAM to design with, I didn't really learn the ins and outs of rhese modern computer devices.
An example of this is with my Mums old computer. My Mum wanted to look at a governemt website. The writing was soo small. My Mu and I spent half an hour using two magnifying glasses to see and slowly writing the page onto paper so we could read it. My brother came and walked into the room... He said "What are you doing?" We told him. He pressed one small thing and all the writing came up big! Uhmmmm.
