Cheez Whiz comes from that famous American expression "Gee Whiz."

You can go to Costco, and get decent Norwegian cheeses, say, for pretty reasonable prices. They have a decent selection of cheese there.

Over here going for a whiz means taking a pee.

The worst example of American cheese is..."American cheese". We have a variety of processed cheese her in America that is even called "American cheese". Some subways sub restaurants have swiss, and some don't. In the later you have to settle for "American".

I'm very surprised there are some Subways which don't offer cheese other than "American."

When I've gone to Subway, there is always at least provolone, cheddar, muenster, American, and Swiss.

Yeah. Provolone. I couldn't think of it. Because I don't like it on sandwiches. So I didn't mention it.

Some have the whole panoply. Swiss, American, provolone, and etc.

But I only like swiss. And some have the others but not have swiss. So I hold my nose and order American because I hate it less than provolone.

The 'Trader Joe's' stores have a terrific selection of chesses e.g,. different types of Cheddar cheese.

Any decent-sized supermarket has a vast choice of cheeses in the United States.

Convenience stores and bodegas: not so much.

Looks yummy.

It's about this time of year that the sad little cheese selections start to appear in the supermarkets. They never look like a good deal.
