I used to think exactly that way. After many years I realised that it wasn't really true. There are a great many things I actually don't have any interest in knowing about. Baseball, for instance. How toasters are manufactured. Most things related to pop culture. I could make this a very long list.
I don't think that's me... I have a compulsion to understand everything. I have a stronger drive for somethings than others and they get more of my attention... but anything is fair game.
Case in point, you mention baseball. I used to hate the sport, it made no sense to me. But I didn't understand why they kept all those statistics, and the meaning of them. So I slowly asked questions and watched a couple of games to really understand what the big deal is.
And I started to get a sense of what the game is really all about, and where the strategy is. Now it's much more interesting and I enjoy watching games... I'll admit the games are boring... so I usually couple this with some other activity... internet surfing/video game playing.
I have to mentally make it a point to ignore most Pop Culture information...
I do have a huge array of interests. Some...er...stronger than others. At any rate, there are some topics that I just can't find any interest in. I tend to think of them as a waste of time. Of course, there's abolutely no telling when one of those might suddenly catch my interest for a time. What you said is probably closer to my own purpose than might have at first appeared.
