I do this sort of thing all the time. I miss the innuendos about drugs the most. I'm often embarrassed when I realize what the song is really talking about.
I also do this with other things that have word play in the meaning. Like for instance, I loved the cartoon Tom & Jerry as a child. I used to watch it everyday, but I kept getting the characters confused. I would forget which one is Tom, and which one is Jerry. Then one day in my mid twenties out of nowhere the lightbulb came on in my head that it was a play on words. Tom is a tomcat.

In retrospect it seems rather naive for me to have wondered why The Starland Vocal Band would designate sky rockets in flight as an afternoon rather than evening delight....

Hmm, I never paid attention to those lyrics. A little before my time, tho I do remember it growing up.

Now, if you really want a song with innuendo, listen to "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls. (it's much more than just the title)

Trust me. "Borderline" is not about orgasms.

That's what it sure sounds like: http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/ ... 8C000782FF

Um. I'm a girl. And you're not. :P

If he really was pushing that kind of love over the borderline, she'd hardly be complaining.

I usually don't get the drug references, either. I guess because I'm not a user. Is that what "Borderline" is about? It sounds like some kind of withdrawal or love/hate realtionship. Of course, I always took that one literally.

I always wonder about songs that have no apparent meaning, since they are obviously about something important enough to someone to write and record it.
That is one reason I like the CDs with the "Liner Notes" which give not only the lyrics to the song, but brief explanations by the writers about the origins of the song, and what inspired them to write it. If you just download the MP3, you miss out on that kind of stuff.
