Maybe the topic starter is a vampyre (which is a subculture on its own): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire_lifestyle ??

One of my favourite musicians, Dave Vanian of the Damned, is into the vampirist subculture.

I am a goth myself but vampirism is just a small step too far for me. I do base my clothing and make-up on the gothic imaginary which is on its turn related to the vampire image from the gothic novel.

I am nocturnal as well but I consider that part of my gothness rather than anything to do with vampires. Cities just look so much calmer and more quiet and peaceful at night, and most buildings look better under artificial lights than at daytime.

When I was a student, the others thought I was a vampire because I couldn't stand the smell of garlic!

Seriously, I have met an "emotional vampire" and he was just the most sinister person.

What he did was get girls on their own (one or two girls), manipulate conversation so that his victim(s) would get so depressed they would start crying, and then he would literally feed off of that. Ugh!

Vampires are not real, vampirists are. Maybe (?) the topicstarter was referring to the vampire subculture which is a small yet active subculture.
