I have never flown in a plane & have no intention of doing so.

For me getting on a plane would be every single bit as scary as going on the space shuttle - and the possibility of doing so is equally as far removed from my reality.

I cannot understand how so many people can treat flying as casually as getting on a train.

How are they able to be in a tiny speck in the middle of endless nothingness like that?

I hate everyonewho is able to do it when I can't.

I hate the world for being like this when I don't want it to be.

(On my planet only about 5% of people would have ever been on a plane & most of those would have been terrified and never done it again! The "normal" 95% would regard them as very brave or foolhardy.)

You probably think I live in the wrong century. (And you're probably right!)

Well, I've never been, but I'm going on one in the near future barring any unfortunate events; I'm quite certain that the plane will splash into the pond and kill all aboard, but whatever.

I told her I was...serious and in love.

(Throw me in with the Xanax/Valium crowd.)

Here is a bit of a story of how my last flight went...

I was on a plane earlier this year...it was a case of having to as I was going to a funeral which would take 9 hours to drive there.
I got into the plane, took my seat when suddenly realised how crammed with people it was. It was one of those tiny planes with many seats. I tried to distract myself by reading the safety sheet in the pocket of the seat infront of me.
The engine started and I was convinced that something in the engine didn't sound normal, so I said to my mum..."I think there is something wrong with the plane". Somebody heard me and said..."What, theres something wrong with the plane?". Basically the news got around the whole aircraft within one minute. The pilot had to assure everyone that there was nothing wrong with the plane before we took off.
When the plane was taking off I was trying not to scream, it was loud and I could still hear something shaking in the engine. I spent the whole flight (1 hour and 20 minutes) panicking and trying to reassure myself that we would not crash. Every little bit of turbulance we hit I said..."I don't want to die, I don't want to die!".

When we finally landed I stood up and my legs felt like jello. I was shaking.

I never knew that I had a fear of flying that bad until that flight. I had never had a problem with flying before that incodent.
I am never going on a plane again. :(

Yes I do. I love to fly. I find it a bit of an adventure to me.

I enjoy flying by day with a window seat. I enjoy watching the clouds and scenery. That's about it. Everything else about it I hate.

I'm constantly worried about losing luggage or having my flight cancelled/delayed and having my plans get all screwed up. I also hate it when I'm forced into a bad seating assignment because of said screw up. I figure if they can't get me a window seat where I can at least pass the time by looking out I should get a refund. I need to be able to look out the window to distract myself from feeling all cooped up in my seat. I'm so uncomfortable in those airplane seats that I get claustrophobic and then I feel like I can't breathe. Also, the whole airport process generates anxiety to the point where I dread traveling. I just can't stand the feeling of being herded around with large crowds of people.
