Not sure, I've never rode a train.

Buses always seem crowded, bumpy, and smelly to me. School buses are bad enough, but I've found there's a whole "procedure" in using the buses in my town, so I've basically taken to walking everywhere.

Flying is really stressful for me. The thought of being up so high is scary, plus the whole process does a number on your ears.

I don't like subways too much because they're a lot like buses. The commuter trains in my area, though, seem pretty roomy and fairly clean. Not to mention the rides are fairly smooth and there's not a lot of starting / stopping. Aside from that, I've always liked trains.

the only transport am can use well is cars or taxis.
am have got a motability ford focus ordered which means will not be limited in travel anymore, taxis are okay providing
drivers dont get nasty when asked by staff if they could turn radios off.
am often in sisters car a renault clio,it is very bad being sat in one of them in the back, very squashed.

am not allowed to go on planes due to risk assessments/guidelines written up by specialists, originally thought there was a chance could try it out over small distance in uk,not good as have always wanted to go to canada in the winter.

Am like idea of horses for travel in countryside.
dad used to do this when he lived in ireland years ago,he had horses and the thing to sit on [he calls it a trap].

Planes, only ever use them when going on holiday, and I don't mind them
Buses, use them everyday nearly, and don't mind them provided I'm not sat over the wheels
Trains, I use them when travelling further afield than what a bus can travel

I like trains. Airplanes are not bad, but economy seats are too squashy.

None of the above. Public transportation is germy and disgusting.

I have no problems with city or university buses. They are usually clean, convenient and much better than driving and trying to find a parking space...

As far as Greyhounds go, I once spent 36 hours of pure hell traveling from Savannah GA to Salina KS on a Greyhound. I'd sooner chew my toes off than ride one of those again.

I've never been on a real train trip, so I cannot say about them...

I used to fly quite a bit for work and on vacation. I mostly flew in small commuter jets from US Air. My flights were always pleasant enough.

So, if I had to travel more than a flew hundred miles, I'd definitely fly.

Flying overseas is much better than flying domestic U.S. flights. Trains are much better than planes or buses. On a train you can walk around and go eat in the food car (or whatever it is called) and you can even get a sleeper car and sleep on a train and it is much more affordable than a plane. A plane gives me claustrophobia unless I can get first class or business class. Trains any day over buses and planes 8)

I didn't vote, as I now prefer to drive everywhere when possible. The sad thing is that I LOVE airplanes and flying, but the whole TSA abuse thing has ruined it for me, and it's now a very upsetting and worrisome event to have to go to the airport. I may still consider finishing my license, and buying a plane, or buying into one with another private pilot. Only problem with that is the cruising range and speed isn't that great, and I'd still need to use a commercial flight to go more than 1000 miles or so without the hassle of the private plane and refueling stops, etc., being more time & trouble than driving. If were irresponsible with money, I'd hire a private jet, but that's just way too much (about $900/hour).

If I did have to choose among the three choices above, I'd probably say train travel. At least you can get up and walk around among the train cars, and it's not as enclosed-feeling as a bus, and certainly not as troublesome as air travel and security hassles.

Choo-Choooooooo! I like trains, but unfortunately trains in the US aren't really promoted like they are in some other countries. I don't think we have any of those super-fast trains like they have in Europe/China, and typically train tickets are about the same price as airline tickets, but it takes you much longer to get to where you're going. I was trying to plan a train trip across the country recently, but the tickets would have been around $1000 round-trip and I would have spent about 50 hours total in the train, probably due to all the stops and such (for reference, it would have been 5 hours total on a plane for the same distance). Still, I prefer them just for nostalgia purposes ;).

I used to enjoy flying, but nowadays I just can't stand it. I avoid it as much as possible!

I like trains and wish we had more (or in fact, any at all) of them here. I remember they were a really fast way to move around Germany, clean, smooth, relatively cheap, and reasonably fast. I want to ride an ICE one day, they are among the fastest on that area. Planes are kind of a hassle, and I don't like the queues and the waiting, but I remember taking a domestic flight once where those procedures were much more relaxed than in an international flight, and 60 minutes inside a plane is much better than 22 hours inside a bus. Buses, well, the kind of buses used for city to city transportation are usually of good quality, I've even been in some with wi-fi. Thing is, if the quality of the roads is bad, or too curvy, buses suffer.

I have never flown on a plane and I dislike using public transport intensely if it's busy. I'd usually rather get a train than a bus, they tend to be faster and more comfortable. I'm a rail enthusiast and love older trains that have more character too them, but modern ones can be very nice too. If only every train trip was like this!: Image
