Never was any good at it. Logic Puzzles, on the other hand, I'm pretty good at.

I figured out the trick myself as a kiddo. Peel of the stickers, sort them, show the cube around, then explain how you did it and laugh at everybody's face.

That ought to have gotten me recognition. All the other people who I asked if they'd be able to solve the cube said no. I then concluded they must be somehow utterly stupid to not figure the easy way. (I didn't take into consideration that 'figure out' means to most 'how to solve this according ton the rules'.

I felt proud until my mother told me that this could destroy the cube. If the stickers would fall off. After this I was deeply worried that I had destroyed the cube and kept checking all sticker. Paranoia...

And when my mother told me she had to figure the cube out mathematically in school, I was quite annoyed that she could not remember (after 10 years...).

So, eh, I'm not much of a fan of rubik's cubes any more. Because of the above.

For everybody who doesn't know: If you complete one side preferably, then you can just go by universal directions to get the other sides completed.

I imagine the solutions are now all over the internet anyway.

Oh yeah, never thought of that...

I solved the cube. well, most of it. I eventually looked up an algorithm to solve the last corners. Which it turns out is incredibly simple and only involved four freaking turns of the cube!

I was utterly defeated by the 2x2x2 as well. :S despite my unnatural success with the original

I can do it, but only by following a string of memorised algorithms.

And these algorithms would be....?
Just curious. I was able to solve a Rubik's 3x3 when I was a kid but I forgot the trick to it over 20 years' time. I know there's a certain method to the 3x3 but I can't recall for the life of me what it is.

I've only ever solved one side! >_<

I can solve one side pretty easily and solve 2/3 of the cube without too much trouble, but I can't do the sequences for solving the last side without using a book.

My brother can solve a 3x3 cube pretty quickly without any outside help. He has cubes of all sizes from 2x2 to 5x5. (I need to find him a 1x1 Rubik's cube!)

sister and dad [both are on spectrum but hf] are quick at solving it,though am find them impossible.
am great with word searches though [if that can be called a puzzle].

I figured out how to do it. It took about a month but I know how to do them now.

I could do it if I wanted, but I'm to lazy do that, just like sudoku. I like wraping my brain around stuff, not my hands.

No, I have never solved a Rubiks cube. I haven't tried one since I was 10 though, so who knows.

I think you'll find people rarely "solve" a Rubiks cube. Generally they read the solution and practice it to show off to their friends. Standard "non-generalisation" disclaimer applies.

I did a search for "rubik's cube solutions" and the beginners one was called "Layer by Layer method".

Do I decided to try and figure it out for myself. Which I did. But for the life of me I could not figure out the last layer's corners. So I looked up that alrogithm...

which is actually just (with the corners you are working on on the left side closest to you): Left face inverted, down face inverted, left face, down face. (inverted means counter clockwise)... just repeat that till your corners are done.

I was actually quite annoyed because I thought it was such an achievement to get to that point without looking up solutions. Since I have "solved it" I looked up the "proper algorithms" and they were very similar to mine anyhow... just fewer steps in three parts of it, one was exactly the same. So I am "better" at it now. Though I do feel a slight pang of guilt from having looked up those last corner algorithms. But I had gone so far I didn't want to start again a different way.

hmm, I solve it differently each time. I really can't teach you how I do it.

I have Rubik's Cube OCD :D if I see one unsolved, I must solve it, and if I see one solved, I have to mix it up. It can take all day.
