Then: Video game programmer
Now: Physicist

Difference: Reverse engineering electronics and code vs. reverse engineering the universe. Hmmmm?

There were lots of things I wanted to be growing up... but the one thing that was consistent in my mind was...

A GREEN BERET!
Special Forces!

Specifically a Medic in the Green Berets just like Barry Sadler.
I used to listen to his album... Ballad of the Green Berets... over & over & over... had the whole thing memorized.
I still have it!... 30+ years old.

Then, an astronaut, a federal marshal, a high school history teacher.
I remember a friend I had on the bus on the way to school. We had plans on going into space together with a supply of beer and women. We signaled each other by making a rocket ship with our fingers. Sort of an acute L shape with both hands and put them together.

Now, an ASPCA officer or game/fish warden or park ranger.

At whatever age i've been, i've always contemplated a career with animals.

I've wanted to be a vet, vet nurse, dog groomer, Zoo keeper, SPCA worker and wildlife photographer.

I've also had some non-animal related career ideas which were a psychologist and a novel writer.

Now, I have no idea, I just want to survive.

I wanted to be a rocket scientist, a physicist, or a science fiction writer.

Something to do relating to art like music and acting.

Sadly I come to find as an adult that it isn't a productive dream. :(

As a child, I wanted to be a scientist.
As an adult, I've been an English instructor, a proofreader and a writer, and now work at the library.

Lets see, one of the earliest things I wanted to be was a bus driver. Then I think it was nurse, business owner, nurse again, elem teacher, hs/ms math teacher, now an emt.

There was a period where I wanted a job almost every other day, but I'm going to exclude those, for the list would be too long.
