I don't think we have any cougars here but we do have bobcats, and I've seen one up close!! 8O

I thought it was a dog at first until I saw it's face. It was about the size of one.

Wow I've heard in California they've been hunting them in an area that's just been opened for housing.

You know what I didn't know about Bob Cats, not Cougars, is that they can breed with a domestic cat!! My adopted cat has the robust structure of one not to mention his tail.

He can get furrocious sometimes that it makes me wonder. Probably not though.

Those are all great pics!

I have seen opossums, raccoons, and various types of birds outside my house, plus my five feral cats.

I love cats of all kinds, domestic and wild. I love Lynxes. (Both wild Lynxes and Lynx point Siamese).

I used to have chickens that I fed every day, but they weren't in a coop so I could never find the eggs. Feeding them and watching the hens and chicks were the highlight of my day.

Here's a picture of a hen sitting on 8 eggs - this was the only time I was able to find one of their nests out of 5 hens that hatched chicks. It's really hard to spot her - she's white and you can barely see her head. I was amazed at what a good hiding place she'd found for her nest.

really love this thread :) I`ll try to post some pictures of my friends later. I think its very interesting about animals/humans and fear. The less we know about it, the more scary it gets.
But If one knows how an animal "works", their instincts and such, then its very seldom dangerous. There are for example bears and wolwes and something cougar-like in the woods here, but no worries. They are not dangerous, unless we push them into a corner and make them defend themselfes. Plenty of room for all. Food for thought. I`ve met alot of animals, have never been seriously attacked, because I respect them and do things in their pace. And then they leave me alone, I`m not even interesting as food, because its to much of a hassle compared to other things for them.

One quick example, earlier I had a fear of spiders. That was only a natural instinct, some residue from a time when this was something to look out for. But, now I live in a country with no spiders that are dangerous in any way. They cant kill me, no matter what. Suddenly, the fear of the spiders seemed quite dumb. Not logicall at all, maybe if I live in the amazon, but not here. So, I read about them and spent some time with spiders. Problem gone, for good.
