That was news to me, disco polo...
it was a bit weird

It's weird to think that people in Europe listen to country music. You never see Europeans being portrayed as being rednecks on TV.

Sounds similar to that band from Sweden, Ace of Base from the 90's.

It sounds extremely dated. It's definitely not timeless music. The people who make this 'disco polo' are obviously stuck in the mid-90's.

The closest thing I listen to that sounds somewhat like 'disco polo' is the 80's band 'New Order'. They're good though, and a lot of their stuff doesn't sound very dated. The only album of theirs that sounds somewhat dated is 'Low-Life', but it still has quite a few good tracks on it. A lot of dance bands from the 90's were influenced by 'New Order'.

My guess is there are "rednecks" everywhere in the world, depending on how you define redneck.

Fat slobs covered in tattoos with little education and too much alcohol - yes, definitely in England. I've seen some in France too but less than England.

I wonder if non-white people can be rednecks.

Rednecks in America are of Celtic descent mainly.When we Celts are living in places like the American south we get sunburnt and our necks (and any other exposed skin) turn red.There are lots of rednecks living in Ireland,Scotland,Wales and Cornwall as well as south west of England.
The English `chav` is definately NOT a redneck as they are urbanites who like black music and hip hop gangsta `culture`.

It depends on the/your definition of a redneck but in a broad perception I think they're everywhere. Maybe less in cities and more in rural areas.

Yes, probably more of a rural "thing". Rednecks is used
as a bad word sometimes, but to me its just a description,
i dont see any negative in it

Country music was probably influenced by the folk music of Scotland,Ireland and the Brittany area of France.Not sure that everyone equates 'country' with rednecks.I like to think country
includes bluegrass music like that of Alison Krauss.
