Does anyone else find this phrase extremely annoying?

The thing i hate with all my heart more then i hate school, death and the weird pale kid in my class who stares at me, is the phrase

"i know you are but what am i?" It was funny the first time. The 2nd was not as fun. The 3rd annoyed me a bit. The 300th caused my to throw a pencil pot across the room.

Yep, that is annoying, and very childish too! This was last funny in Year 6!

At least it's not In My Humble Opinion (IMHO), which is anything BUT humble 99 times out of a hundred.

God, I hate people who do that.
lol, I agree with both points!
Sometimes online I'll say it for my own opinion (ex: In my opinion, I feel like...) because people get easily insulted when people state their opinion, often thinking it's an accusation, so I add it to soften the blow of some of my blunt statements. I'm a bit of a peacemaker when it comes to stuff like that.

Nice catch, Douglas. IME, that's also true. If you're going to use IMHO, only use it if you're feeling humble or truly expressing humility. Otherwise, you're being a pompous double talking ass. 8)

An easy fix... just turn it into "In My Half-assed Opinion" as you read it, and the accuracy is improved.
