I once walked from Las Vegas to Carmel. I don't know how far that is but it took about two months and I went cross country not following the roads.
You win!
I used to walk to a friend's house when I was a kid. He lived about 3 miles away, but to a kid on foot it seemed like he lived ten times as far. He lived in a wealthy neighborhood, and I lived in a bad neighborhood. There wasn't much between our neighborhoods, but there was a road that connected them and I'd walk it every now and then.
When I was a little younger and in better shape, I used to walk a 7-mile urban riverfront trail some days, and other days I would run it. It was 7 miles back, which I always hated because by the time I made it to the end I REALLY didn't want to walk back to my car.
And for a while I would bicycle to and from another town, which was about 17 miles round-trip. Not too bad.
That's about it. I do miss being a teenager and walking everywhere, though. I lived in the inner-city, so nothing was too far away... 1-2 miles mostly. There was even a mall about 3 miles away but I never walked up there because of the traffic in that area. One thing I never did like was walking across major roads.
