Jaime Guttenberg should have turned 15 today. But she will be 14 forever.

Rafael Nadal lost his semifinal. After all the hard times he had at Wimbledon the last few years, I was hoping he would win.

NPR's RadioLab (which I love) played Dinopocalypse - about the K/T boundary, shocked quartz, glass rain and of course the mass extinction event. Loved the science, *really* loved the live musicians on stage with the presenters, but hated the idea of such a cataclysm. (Edit in: I was in grad school when this was first being figured out, and knew some of the people doing the figuring - grad students at other nearby schools. It was nice to remember those times.)

They didn't get into the fact that it's apparently a periodic phenomenon, oh joy. (I can understand why.)

Periodic Mass Extinctions Oh Joy
That layer of what looks like ash - to which he is pointing - pretty much actually is. Literal global conflagration (and millennia of volcanic ash from the perturbations).

Car needs a brake job. But I'll be getting it done at the end of the week.

Wimbledon was a disaster. I'm glad it's finished.

I went running in the park with my friends when I accidentally hit a large, thick tree branch on my head. I was knocked out for a while, and I woke up with blood covering my forehead. I never swore so much all at once in my life. My friends took me to the hospital, and I had to have stitches on a large cut responsible for the blood loss, and that really hurt as well.
I have to rest for a while. I was told that it should heal in a period ranging from a week to about a month, but my head still hurts so much.

For some reason I can no longer get on WP on my Firefox browser. Instead I just get a white screen with the phrase "site has been disabled". Right now I'm using my default browser, but it's awful. There are ads all over the place that are very annoying and distracting. Not autism friendly at all. Is there any way I can go back to WP on Firefox without having to unblock the ads? :(
