I believe it's because they come from the poppy plant----which contains ingredients used in making opiates.

One could, conceivably, get jail time for littering in Singapore. A whipping if caught writing graffiti.

i found conflicting information about it in brazil. it seems you can import it but it's a very bureaucratic process, where you must have some paperwork about its origin, other places say it is illegal... i couldn't find specific information about individual instead of corporate imports.

in hungary they were quite common... there was a delicious pastry of apple, walnut and poppy seed

^^^because Singapore is an authoritarian place where they cane people for minor infractions. beware of any modern nation state [they are just one of many] that uses corporal punishment on its own citizens, where there are no protections from cruel and unusual punishments. chewing gum is illegal there also. people caught with it [foreigners] are booted immediately and forbidden to return, natives caught with it are fined heavily, and repeat offenders are caned. the caning process leaves permanent scarring and disability [you can never sit down right again afterwards from nerve damage].

Being nice means one of three things:
1) You can't afford to be mean and you know it. In other words, you know someone would soon beat you to a pulp.
2) You can afford to be mean, but you don't know it and believe you can't.
3) You can afford to be mean and you know it, but mysteriously decide to be nice anyway. I don't really know why anyone would make this decision; it seems a blatant losing game.

(Ab)users probably don't know, either, why 3) would ever be the case. This leaves only the two cases in which you're a target ripe for abuse.

I just found out that my wife's mother passed away last night at the age of 93. Mrs. Fnord is broken up about it, as are her siblings.

Your "Thoughts and Prayers" are appreciated.

Thank you.

When I woke up the apartment was roasting, I felt like I was run over by a steamroller, and my mother still hasn't called or spoken to me since the incident on Monday.

my mom took pictures of me while i was playing with my kitty and i'm so fat i look hideous and i hate when people take photos of me because i'm still in denial about how much weight i need to loose. i feel really dumb because in the beginning of this year and the beginning of last year i was doing well practicing exercise and lost some weight, but i obviously gained all back. i feel sad because when i look in the mirror, i don't see myself as fat as i am right now.

I'm sorry. She lived to be a pretty good age at least.

What made me unhappy is rushing around to finish getting ready for my trip today. I also only got a couple hours sleep last night but I did take a couple hour nap yesterday at least.

I didn’t sleep good last night, it was so hot, I been cooling off my bedroom, I turned on my fan & ceiling fan hours early. I got up in the middle of the night, I had a little bit of acid reflux & my head was itching  I went into my living room, I didn’t feel like watching tv or turning on my iPad. I went back to bed at 4, I slept for 5 hours. I still have acid reflux, I almost threw up putting my trash & boxes on my porch, my neighbor volunteer to take out my trash for me, last week, I took out 2 of my trash bags, I saw my neighbors car in the parking lot, I went to his apartment, he took out my other trash & boxes. At my front door, I asked for his phone numbers so he could help me with my trash, I cannot go outside, I been messing up my knee when I take out my trash before, the sun is TOOOOO Strong for me & more problems   Once I was crying in front of my other neighbor when she helped me, I was badly hyperventilating. I really have not been in the mood to talk very much, it been too hot to talk, I haven’t emailed my dad, he emailed me last week. People in my town are sad, a woman’s dog died few weeks ago, he died, cuz of the heat   It was 118 degrees :skull: :skull: :skull: 8O

My sincere condolences to you and all of the Fnords. May she rest in peace. :(
I will remember her in my prayers.
