I'm dealing with a typical Older Person problem - had a spider bite, it infected, stuff they gave me for the inflammation caused very old injuries elsewhere to flare up badly, stuff I'm supposed to take for the pain and spasms makes me a zombie even though I've cut way back on the dose. So the yard work has been neglected (thank God I pay someone to mow and weed whack) and I'm miserable about the overgrowth.
On the plus side, infection long gone. Injuries, which are from an old car accident (was rear ended and messed up REAL good) are subsiding. House is NOT an eyesore, I just have wild and woolly flowerbeds. And I have been sufficiently functional to get some interior work done (by a handyman, but I went out and bought the materials). I keep telling myself that with all the rain this year I've at least been spared the horrible biting bug season, but I still have to get the flowerbeds cleared. Oh and, I finally gave up and found a spot-foaming herbicide which I am putting on the crabgrass for about fifteen minutes a day to try and get it all out of the flowerbeds, and it seems to be working while leaving the good plants alone. So now I have to get all the brown dead stuff out... but at least the crabgrass is dying.
This business of the cure being worse than the original disease really, really, really sucks.
That sounds like a horrible time indeed. Glad the infection is gone and your injuries are subsiding. Hope you feel better quickly.
To cheer you up, cuteness overload:
