I tried opening a window shade, but the string to pull it open broke and the shade fell over the kitchen sink.

Now, I have to figure a good explanation to tell my mom because even though it was an accident, my mom doesn't believe in "accidents" and that I broke the string on purpose.

It's not polite to say it, but your mother has a terrible attitude. I'm sorry that you have to deal with it. Of course accidents happen, things get old and wear out, the stress of repeated use can cause exactly what happened to you. How can she not understand that? I'm sorry, AnonAnon.

A local chain of grocery stores is closing, where I live. It's complicated... two other chains merged, one was told they had to leave the area, these guys came in to "save the day" and occupy all the locations, but their price point was about one dollar too high across the board, and they never figured it out.

Apparently they'd rather fold a dozen stores and lay off all these people, than adjust their pricing and capture the loyal customer base that was waiting for them to "get it" because we literally could not afford to do the bulk of our shopping with them.

So they're having a blowout sale, and I am going there to stock up. I'm buying really nice things that are now priced where they always should have been, and it just makes me want to cry. All these people losing their jobs... and these stores were located in residential neighborhoods, so a lot of retirees and SAHMs would walk to them.

Nobody is coming in - they're selling the fixtures(!) - so we're going to have empty stores, food deserts, and the beginning of blight in these neighborhoods. All because some cement-head in the C-suite somewhere decided he'd rather fail than adjust. (Sexist of me, could just as easily be a female cement-head, but not many of those get to the C-suites.)

Well, sometimes I literally feel lost, not in terms of physical direction mind you, rather have spent my whole damned life not really know where to go with my life overall.Even when I eventually found what I was good occupation wise, I was intentionally re-directed away from that whereby, I was left with doing menial job after menial job over the last 20 years now. Often I wished I was my brother and had a better sense of direction at an earlier age so, I could had avoided these disasters. As well wished my older brother was still around. :(

I have to take my younger cat to the vet tomorrow. At 9:30 AM. They wouldn't make the appointment any later than that. My mother will coming to pick me up at 9. Which means I'll need to be up at 8:30 at least to get ready. The thought of having to get up that early is going to just make me more anxious about trying to get to sleep. But my cat *needs* to see the vet so I don't have a choice. :(

I was late for my appointment with my therapist today. Luckily, she is an understanding person.

Found out brisol farms grocery store closed at that location

And I wanted salad bar

There was no other grocery store nearby

Went to Cafe

:jester: :ninja:  :D

Opened door to the candy store that I had a job interview at

Almost tripped over a saddlebag some ass hole had the nerve to put right behind the door

Safety hazard

Could not see the saddlebag

Then someone asked "are you ok?"

Act all innocent

It's like, the saddlebag should not have been where it's easy to trip over

^^ Ugh, you have my total sympathy.

And I'm about to give you some probably useless advice: can you stand ear plugs, is it safe for you to use them (i.e., if you do use them, will you be able to wake if a smoke alarm goes off? Or your own alarm clock? Not everyone can)? I lived for about 2 years in a place that was so noisy that I only managed to sleep if I ran a box fan in my room while wearing earplugs. The box fan took care of the bass, the earplugs managed the rest of the noise. If mechanical white noise doesn't bother you, this might help. For me, the foam type of plug was useless, but the silicone ones worked wonders.

<End useless advice>
