This is escalating. I need help. Can someone please help. I need to know how to stop a total panic attack / meltdown. It's been 90 minutes and hasn't peaked. It's very bad.

There must be a website somewhere but I don't have time to look.

Get them to focus on their breathing.
You may have to talk them through it.
Square breathing is good - breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, pause for 4.

Thats good advice Raleigh, however some people can't hold their breathes like that - I'm one. However focussing on breathing is good as it centres one on the physical 'now'. When I am in full panic attack/anxiety meltdown I need to brought back to my body slowly, as the distress is in my mind and I need to be refocussed. I am NOT a therapist, only one who has learned what brings me 'down' or 'up' or 'out' from those frightful places.

10 Ways to Stop a Panic Attack

What I always do is let the person take a warm shower, afterwards go for a walk in nature. Maybe with headphones on with their favorite music.

I can also massage people, and that is almost always enough.

Some people enjoy ASMR. Find it insanely relaxing even.

It's my mother. 80. I'm monosyllabic with her at the best of times. Totally mute the rest.

Shes screaming . Full hysteria. Threw things. I'm over my head.

Im crying in another room.

Some of those 10 apply to me, especially the chocolate lol! But yoga? Hmmm. What I'm saying, not trying to bring it back to me, is we have our own personalised ways that work and only by trial and error can we find them. I think being ASD adds another dimension of difficulty as there can be sensory issues. I find running my wrists under running water good, but only in the beginning phases of anxiety. Once I've gone over the edge getting to the tap is insurmountable. If someone were to splash me with water for example I would feel that as an attack and go deeper.

Maybe we should have a thread in The Haven with our own things that work and that might be a helpful resource?

Stay in your room and keep yourself safe. Will think of something. Ambulance may be unnecessary expense. Hold tight.

You can call emergency services, and they can calm her down, even the police can do that.

My mother has called the police to calm me down once, and they were incredibly nice. I was insanely angry because my neighbors threatened to poison my dogs and was planning to do something about it. They calmed me down incredibly well, even embraced me a few times. One was just as tall as I am 6'6 and a total teddy-bear, who was playing with my dogs, and the other was a sweet woman, who was so incredibly nice. Lovely experience. Couldn't thank them enough.

No harm in calling them.

why can't i be good at the one thing i give a f**k about. why can't i make decent art. why.

i will never fit in anywhere, and i never really have no matter what ive done or where i've been or who i've been with.

people say "just stand out" but constantly fail to realize how bad that really is the vast majority of the time. i dare anyone to tells me to stand out to take their own advice and see how much it really hurts.

You are not invisible - just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Advice can only be given from the other's subjective viewpoint, what maybe works for them won't work for you. We need to have our own store of positive things to pull out in dark times. Like "remember when you ***? You did OK then and it worked out."

Of course not all work for everyone, and everyone is unique. That is why there are multiple. Just trying to help someone in trouble.

I’m glad you are better. Why people have to threaten other people? My mom threatened me I think once, she hold my concert ticket for hostage until I cleaned, I paid for ticket, she was going tear it up.
