My kitty cat is not well. Poor little sweetie is curled up asleep now, but she was crying before because her butt hurts. (TMI I know)
Pectin is her friend and yours - completely safe for her, high fiber. Ask your vet for an oral syringe, or buy a pediatric dosing eyedropper at the drugstore, and pectin is with the canning supplies. About as much as would fit into a small capsule, in a tablespoon of warmed water - baby formula warm. Dosing a liquid through their side teeth becomes easy surprisingly quick (if you haven't already done this); they're very smart, they "get" it when they start feeling better.
Desitin for the sore rear. Use a glove or finger cot, she'll flinch at first but it's so soothing that she'll welcome it remarkably quickly. A little goes a long way, you don't want it rubbing off on furniture.
I had to tube-feed a very sick kitty for several weeks, and it worked, it saved her life, but until I figured out the pectin trick, I was sitting on the side of the bathtub washing her poor little hinder end twice a day. Without Desitin she'd never have lasted. She would purr when I applied it... poor love.
I had a large comfy cage rigged up for her, big enuf for a small litter box, lined with puppy training pads and a bed made out of towels, so accidents and Desitin spots were confined to a small easily cleaned area... had her for five more years after all that, and it was absolutely worth every moment of effort. She was a darling, darling cat.
