I think I really ought to give in and buy a new bike. I got mine for free about a year ago, used. I disliked it from the beginning--it is old, rusty, and ugly and everyone always comments on the color, which does not suit me (it's about the polar opposite of my personality). The headlight has since stopped working and will cost $15 to replace. The front tire constantly needs air and I don't know how much it would cost to replace. It makes horrible creaking sounds which upset me. And it is gradually becoming more and more difficult to peddle, to the point that it's now exhausting to ride three blocks (this may be temporarily fixable with DW40, but that would cost money as well). So, I suppose it would cost $35-50 to make my bike not horribly unpleasant and potentially dangerous to ride, as a rough estimate. A new bike would not be hideous, would ride well and have a light, and would presumably not make scary sounds, and would cost about $120.

This post was really just to convince myself to do it. I like bike riding, but I hate it recently. I should have one I like to use for once it warms up again.
