What p*sses you off?
That's entirely different though. That's about racism, not disagreeing with a group of people. If I said something like that, then I would be an ignorant bigot, yes. But what I said was completely different to that and I would never justify what he said by anger.
It is slightly different, granted, but there are many similarities i.e. accusing a whole group of otherwise innocent people of being characterised by a nefarious member of said group.

But by calling someone a black bastard, that shows that they are racist. Otherwise, calling them a black bastard wouldn't even have entered their mind. What I said was different.

I know it was different but it has very similar aspects.
But by calling someone a black bastard Accusing all christians of conforming to your stereotype , that shows that they are racist. Bigoted Otherwise, calling them a black bastard exhibiting bigoted behaviour wouldn't even have entered their mind.

No.
I believe that there are plenty of Christians who fit the description I gave earlier, therefore yes, those are my opinions of a certain group. That in itself does not make me bigotted, because there ARE some Christians who are like that. Applying that to all Christians is wrong yes, but it doesn't show that I am bigotted, it merely shows that I had thay opinion of some then, being pissed off, I generalised and made out that all Christians were like that. Whereas it is never justified to be racist to one black person, never mind all of them. So there are no similarities. You are trying to draw a comparison that is not there.

You believe there are SOME christians that fit the description you gave and Ron also believed that there were SOME black people fitting the description he gave. The point here is that you both took an opinion of a small minority and inflicted it upon a larger innocent group...that is the similarity. Ron could have said that he wasn't bigoted because 'there are some black people who ARE like that' but that wasn't really the point. I contend that it isn't justified to stereotype ANY group of people, whether their connection be based on a choice (that isn't harmful in and of itself) OR genetics.
More specifically, the similarity was this:
You got pissed off by SOME christians (a small minority) and made comments on the WHOLE of christianity based upon this small element.
Ron Atkinson got pissed off by ONE black person and effectively made comments on the WHOLE population of black people based upon his opinion of that one person.
Racists often base their entire opinion of a WHOLE race on the negative aspects of SOME people from that race they have met.
The whole point is that Ron Atkinson came back after the comment and said 'Oh actually, I didn't mean what I said, I was just angry and upset; I actually have many black friends' and that is actually what you did, you said something, then said you didn't mean it and that actually you had christian friends.
You say that Ron should be judged by ignorant comments that he made but didn't mean when angry but you shouldn't be judged by ignorant comments you made but didn't mean because you were angry. My contention here is that if Ron's mistake shows that he was racist, your mistake shows that you have a prejudice against christians.
I am not saying that both are as bad as each other, or indeed that they are the same but just that if making derogatory overgeneralised comments about race is unnacceptable, then surely making derogatory overgeneralised comments about people's faith is unnacceptable too.

Race and faith are very different.
And my point was that, while the fact that the person was black had nothing to do with whatever it was he disliked about him, the Christians I was referring to pissed me off because of things directly related to their faith. By referring to him as a black bastard, that shows he is racist. If someone had pissed me off and happened to be Christian, but their faith had nothing to do with it, I wouldn't call them a Christian bastard. Some Christians piss me off. Some don't. I wasn't clear about exactly who I was referring to in my post. But I've never believed that ALL Christians are like that.

You are missing the point here. I have acknowledged that race and faith and indeed, the situations I was comparing were different but sometimes we make comparisions to talk about SPECIFIC similarities that cases share rather than to say that they are altogether exactly the same. Punching someone in the face and shooting them dead are different but they have certain small similarities e.g. they are both acts of violence and aggression etc.
So, the point was that SOME Christians pissed you off and you made a comment about ALL Christians. There is no point in telling me that race and faith are very different; I know that and have acknowleged it. I am not trying to say that what you did was the same as what Ron Atkinson did but I am saying I completely disagree with it and in fact disagree with all instances of saying something about a large group of people based on a negative experience with a smaller subset of said people.
I don't know how to make it any plainer: the thing I didn't like was making a comment directed at a whole group of people based negative aspects of a small minority of them was what I didn't like.

Evangelical Christians!
I hate 'em too.
The sound of a baby crying.
Kid's running around screaming, especially in a library.
AMEN!! ! I am not even going to get into what annoys me about "Born Again" and Evangelical Christians. However, I find it impossible to understand how an adult can actually believe that there is some hypocritical dude sitting up in the clouds! It is akin to believing in Santa Clause or the Tooth Fairy! It is also the 'loop hole' religion, since you can be an evil sadistic a-hole and still think that you are going to heaven (whatever that is), simply because they declared Christ as their personal savior. However, the rest of us non-Christians are going to hell! Well, now that I think of it, I would much rather hangout in Hell than w/ a bunch of self-righteous Christians.
Oop's I guess I did get into to it!! !
- Ignorant rednecks in Wal-Mart annoy me!
- Feeling forced to make small talk, when I see a neighbor in passing, just because it is the polite thing to do!
- People who have no sense on spelling or grammar, especially w/ the availability of spell check!

LOL I completely agreed with all of that.
And other things that piss me off:
People walking slowly down the corridor
People who talk really loudly
Getting out of the shower when it's cold

Drunk people
Nosy people who ask all kinds of prying questions and look around the house to see what you have. These people always have a shifty look as though they are about to steal something.
People who destroy or fail to return something you've loaned them
Are you speaking of Republicans?
Hehehe!! ! Sounds like it! But they forgot ignorant, hypocritical, and greedy...

Getting out of the shower when it is cold really sucks! I would add loud people, but I have a volume control problem a times

Haha I don't mind off topic posts as long as I agree with them.
Although, I have to admit I do discriminate. I'm not particularly a fan of gay sex between men lol. Don't mind people doing it though, I just don't watch.

LOL! Well judging by your s/n, I assumed that the idea of two men 'getting-it-on' may not be a popular a pastime of yours (lol)
