Kittens are afraid of icemaker noises.

To accept things as they are. Don't try to change because another year has started.

A live grenade was located somewhere in the city I live in.

However, the alert that I found out about it from, which mentioned evacuating the area, was posted online 11 days ago.

I guess that's what I get for having my phone off most of the time. I think they got rid of the grenade without harming anyone, though. But who would purchase something like that? Where did they purchase it? Were they plotting some kind of attack? I guess I'll never know. :(

My mom told me that they caught the guy with the grenade. He had thrown it into a building without pulling the pin out first. I don't if he was, fortunately, too dumb to know about how hand grenades work, or he just wanted to scare people but not actually hurt anybody.

My mom said not to worry if I miss out on an alert because if she thought I was in danger she or my uncle would come and get me as soon as possible. This incident happened on a street that was far from where I live.

She then told me that one time when I was around 11 or 12 the police came and told us to stay indoors and not go near the doors or windows because there was some guy running around in the woods with a gun. Apparently he was freaking out over a breakup with a woman who happened to be a relative of mine, but they caught him and he didn't hurt anyone. I don't really remember that, but I did have a really bad nightmare around that time that a man came into our house with a machine gun and laughed before shooting my brother and me, so maybe I heard stuff from my parents or on TV.

That this isn't the first time the US has tried to steal Greenland from Denmark, they've been trying to since the 19th century.

If the US failed all those other times, maybe they'll just fail again. :) But I doubt it. :( We'll just have to wait until the ice caps all melt, and then no one can have Greenland.

That there is a rare, inherited metabolic disorder called Maple Syrup Urine Disease. At first I thought someone was poking fun at Canadians, but it really does exist and it really does make urine smell like maple syrup. 8O

The oldest submerged city is Pavlopetri in Greece. I assure it's the inspiration to the fictional island Atlantis.

Speaking of pieces of media involving marine settings inspired by real life locations. Bikini Bottom from SpongeBob is influenced by Bikini Atoll. Which is located in the Marshall Islands. During the Cold War, the US did nuclear tests over there hence why it's now uninhabitable thanks to the lingering radiation. Which leads to fan theories of the characters being mutated.

Image
In 1969 or maybe early 1970, my older sister received a compilation album of songs from 1968. The above picture was on the album cover's back. It did not identify who they were. I could identify who all the other groups photos, but not this.
Roughly 56 years later (today), I stumble on the same picture in YouTube.
It is the group Amboy Dukes. I know one of their songs. Journey to the Center of the Mind
Why did it stick in my mind? because the guy in the lower right looked like he was four to five feet tall. He's not. I've learned he was the bass player, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1979.
The group was created by Ted Nugent.

I'm sure everyone will sleep better tonight knowing that.

I love vintage band photos, so thank you very much, pcgoblin. I've been looking at it a little while now. I think those are some nice faces.

I find the factual details interesting too, but I will never remember them.

Post a Picture of the Real You.
CockneyRebel created the page and posted the first picture of himself.
It is a very nice photo of him, and I like the bus he is holding.
I scrolled through the thread looking at the pictures and visual met so many people I recognize by name.
I did not look through the whole thread, maybe about 125 pages.
It was enjoyable.

In the 1930s a Polish cartoonist who just really hated Disney and Mickey Mouse for some reason worked on an anti-Mickey Mouse short where it looks like Mickey is being brutally tortured and bullied by Polish characters. The short was never completed, possibly due to worries that it would frighten young children, and is lost media.

Chat GPT claims the cartoonist's name was Jan Jarosz :) Jarosz is an obsolete term for "vegetarian" in Polish.
