Oooh, I really like France's Eurovision entry this year, an opera song in Corsican. I'll have to watch the final on Saturday. 8)

Is anyone here going to watch the ESC (Eurovision Song Contest)?

I might; my teacher told me about it.

God, I hope I do well on this AP Test...

I used to play the piano by ear when I was a child. I got a lot of joy out of it, even if I wasn't some super-amazing savant.

Then one day in band class, when I was 12 years old, the teacher offered to let us play the piano he had in the room. I volunteered to play and started playing my favorite song that I had taught myself, and the most complex one I knew at the time - "Colors of the Wind". I only knew how to play with one hand, and the class started booing me. The teacher told me to stop.

Then the kids started telling my friend to play the piano, because they knew she took lessons. I stood next to her and watched as she played like a pro, with both hands. The class cheered. One of the other kids turned to me and said "You could learn a lot from her." I smiled even though I had tears in my eyes and said, "You're right, I could."

From that day forward I stopped playing the piano, because every time I sat down to play, I remembered the harsh words of my classmates. I couldn't even play when my parents bought me a new keyboard a few years ago as a surprise Christmas gift.

But today, my mom told me that what happened all those years ago was nothing but an "old memory that needs to be buried". She mentioned that James Durbin's feelings were hurt when he got kicked off of American Idol tonight, but that just because he didn't win doesn't mean that he needs to stop singing. My mom also told me that I don't need to prove anything to anyone, and that I should play for myself.

And so, nearly 9 years after the incident in the band room, I sat down and played my piano again. And this time, it felt good. :)

I would like to apologize to a bunch of people about my Fatten Up A Random Female Celebrity thread. I've started that thread thinking that it would be a fun game. It went into flames from the beginning. That wasn't my intention. What was meant to be a fun game turned out to be not so fun and I apologize to everybody who was involved.

I read everything :)
IdahoRose, your piano post - I play myself and if that had happened to me a while back when I wasn't so good things may have been different. Nice to see you took a step to bury the memory. I find it very relaxing to play, one of my few outlets on darker days.

(Appears) Good morning, everybody! Finally. . . TGIF! It's Friday! The end of the week and the start of the weekend! YAY!!

On another note, today is also Friday the 13th. A day of bad luck for the superstitious.

Friday the 13th is also the title of a series of horror films that feature the undead masked killer, Jason Voorhees!

Good morning everybody. I would like to make one thing clear to everybody. I am not insecure about my weight. If I was, I wouldn't identify with the largest Kink and nor would I be using avatars that indicate that he was the largest member 70% of the time. Let's make this Friday the 13th a good one. 8)

I was starting to think I had become impervious to the powers of the sleep fairy, but then BAM! I feel really tired.

Again I face the dilemma of being tired but not wanting to go to sleep.

Ahh... last AP Test done with.
I was even included in a group to do something social afterward; how about that...
