I can't even remember my diagnosis!

I was diagnosed with spd, aspergers, nvd, mild ocd, and I forgot if there were any other diagnoses.

I'm supposed to be getting a psychiatrist. My audiologist wanted to give me a phycologist, but I told her the previous two were rubbish, so she told my mother she though I needed a psychiatrist.

My hearing-doctor person told me I wasn't normal, three times, and that I should go to my GP and get diagnosed with something. How rude.

Oh, to clarify, I do know what my diagnosis is, I can't remember the actual process.

I have diagnosed moderate sensorineural hearing loss, but, uh, other than that I'm quite out of the diagnosis game.

I remember the day I was diagnosed and the subsequent check-ups, but none of the tests before that.

I knew that Ten I was just telling people what I was dianosed with. My diagnoser is the head of a department at Washington University. She is Hawaiian I believe.

I assumed as much, Ten.

Well just in case anyone was unsure!

Ten do you remember how long ago you were diagnosed?

Well, my diagnosis is on hold for now, until I am feeling up to attending all the required appointments and can find the sort of psychiatrist who won't see it as an affront to his professional dignity for me to dare to think that I already know that I have AS without him needing to tell me so. I am not sure if I even care any longer about being diagnosed "officially."

Back to the hacker boy: I wonder how this mysterious diagnosis actually came about. Did the boy say to the police "I think I have Asperger's; I'm above the law. Let me go home!" and so they had to verify whether he had it or not? Or did he have no idea that he had it?

Perhaps, during his interrogation, a random cop scratched his head and said out of the blue: "you know, there's something not right with this kid. Call in our specialised psychiatrist funded by the taxpayer and have him do some intensive sessions for the next week to find out whether the suspect could possibly be autistic."

Hmmm.

I thought there were some requirements on convicting people and whether or not they were mentally stable, or able to plead insanity and so on.

Maybe that's just murder.

I was diagnosed in summer 2008 I believe.
Though there were suspicions since 2006.

It seems to me that most of the people on this site have had trouble being diagnosed.

Yes, there are such special cases, I believe, but the point is that Asperger's does not equate to insanity. That was why so many people got indignant over that Gary McKinnon case. His mother is trying to say that he shouldn't be extradited because of his Asperger's. People with Asperger's know right from wrong like everybody else. We all know hacking is against the law.

Personally, I do not believe Gary McKinnon should be extradited. The reason for my opinion is not the fact that he has AS (which is irrelevant) but because his offence is relatively minor in hacking terms. I don't think he stole any information or did anything malicious. I think he just left taunting messages for the Pentagon saying things like "guys, your security sucks!" didn't he? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

If he had done that on any other website, I very much doubt anyone would have tracked him down. But this was the Pentagon. The mere fact that he had been able to get in there at all is unacceptable. Thus, his offence is vast in embarrassment terms, and that is why he's a wanted man.

Well I can't remember when we initiated the diagnosis process, but I think it took a fair while, a year maybe, I'm not sure.

Getting a statement from school was so much trouble it didn't happen in the end, though, yet they were very eager to when it was too late and I had gone.
