Why, what is the age of consent in other countries?

Even though some countries show a lower age, you can still be prosecuted. From what i understand also, 16 is the legal age for consent in the UK. However if you are older the parents have the right to prosecute you until the age of 18. Personally i dont understand the age of consent being 13 in Japan for example but as with above, one can be prosecuted. They are still children in my eyes at this age and have not yet developed maturely biologically or mentally.

Yeah in places like Iran... I can see why some countries would want to lower the age. To make a 14 year old a criminal has no logic. If two 14 year olds consent then i can somewhat understand that as when puberty kicks in the desire for sex often follows. However if it is someone in there 30's with a 14 year old that is a very different story!! !

What's the difference, as long as it's not abuse/taking advantage?

A family of hippies moved into the room across from me. I'm wondering if it's just the parents moving in, or the daughter is also moving in. I'm not going to let that change who I am. I'm going to keep wearing my helmets and flying my true colours.

As far as i ma concerned, a 14 year old is still just a child and any man/woman looking for that sort of thing is in my books taking advantage of, whatever ones reasoning. Maybe its my individual moral compass, but 14 is way too young for any fully grown adult to get intimate with... There are too many reasons to list why i think it is wrong. However as mentioned if two 14 year olds get together and the inevitable happens i dont think they should be seen as criminals.... Its a simple but complicated matter. I think it is just very wrong... People in not so developed countries take advantage of this and marry their 13-14 year old daughter off to some guy in his sixties. The poor child does not have a say in the matter.. and from what i have read and witnessed every single one of those kids looks totally depressed.... Just somethings are wrong depending on ones compass... I have dated older and younger women but cant find any good reason to why i would ever want to date some child of that age! its just wrong and goes deeper than any form of intellectual reasoning i can put into words... When they reach maturity in their early twenties, then that is a different matter as far as age groups go but when a child is still developing mentally and physically then its a strict no no!
So how young is too young?

i'd certainly feel weirded out here if i saw such a thing going on in my own "backyard", and desire to help them, but what happens in other nations or cultures isn't any of my own business and i wouldn't want to spend my own energy worrying about it.

how young is too young? IMO that depends on so many things there hardly is a way to make a "rule" about it without some unfairness, but i guess there has to be one anyway.

i'll be 20 in a month and my GF will still be 17 until july, is that odd?
