I don't really understand what asexual is.
It seems to mean all different things to different people.
If you're asexual, I would have thought that means you're not attracted to anyone, male or female, but it seems in many cases to be a strong aversion to sex.

Maybe I just can't understand anyone not wanting sex, and how would you even know you hated it unless you have experienced it?

I thought I was asexual for a long time. For me it was not revulsion, but the absence of feeling, instinct or desire.

Revulsion is hatred + fear. I guess I can understand that version of asexuality, if it's fear of the unknown.
Or of sensory things, maybe.
