That looks like a pike.
The fishing isn't bad here.
We usually catch whiting or bream, which are good eating.
The river is full of mullet but you can't catch them on a line because they're filter feeders.
I'm a bit excited about the bushwalking.
It's a river bed walk which I enjoy..
If I decide to stay I'll be sleeping in a tent.
Yes, I can see the resemblance but it's not a pike. Pike is a freshwater fish, and much bigger. You can fish pike close to here, but I've never done it. The scientific name for the fish we caught is Belone belone.
Bream is that a freshwater fish?
I think whiting might be the same as "vitting" a salt water fish we can catch here too. I never have though.
River bed walk... The first thing that comes to my mind is crocodiles??
In Norway there isn't any dangerous animals really. There are bears and wolfs, but that is not where I live, and there hasn't been a person killed by those animals in decades as far as I know.
There is no poisonous spiders, and only one poisonous snake. The snake will probably not kill you though.
My point is, I think you are very brave for sleeping outdoors in Australia where there are many dangerous creatures.
