I wish, I'd never leave the house.

I'm writing an extensive report of sexism in a certain Metroid game. Is anyone interested in reading it?

The woord 'extensive' scares me.

No, it's a computer game ffs.

Get angry about actual sexism.

Like Saudi Arabia, friends of the west, they hate women and world leaders cosy up to them because they buy lots of weapons.

Ignore games, films and books when it comes to sexism and focus on actual sexism.

I was horrified by the booby bounce in Dead or Alive 4.
It was kinetically impossible.

Actually, I think it may have been D or A 2.
It was the bikini one.
I don't know.
I'm traumatised.

Raleigh: Why does it scare you?

Quill: Alright, then. I would like to point out, though, that to see Samus Aran, one of the greatest video game protagonists get reduced to a shell of her former, heroic, awesome self, especially after I have been through some unpleasant situations, was deeply upsetting for me, and I want to speak out about it. You say it doesn't matter. To all of the women who were inspired to go into space because of Lt. Uhura on Star Trek, it mattered to them. To all of the women who consider Samus to be an inspirational hero to them, it matters to them, and also to me.

Extensive suggests very long and detailed and I have trouble reading long posts on WP.
My novel reading consists of a few pages each night, whereas before I could read a novel in a day.
I tend to forget what I'm reading easily, so I have to go back over it a number of times.
It's pretty exhausting, but I know it's good for my brain.
I miss my reading ability.
But I will improve.
Am improving.

Really Kura.

Think about it.

It's a game, it's not something to be outraged over, anyone can make a game and put anything they wish into it.
You buy games, don't like it then don't buy it.

Actual sexism, fight that.

My country is led by a woman, she is a wonderful human being, she fights actual sexism and not some BS fake bollocks that wastes your time.

Don't waste your time on these people, they are just writing words to get paid, it's meaningless waffle.

Raleigh: On the Word Document that I'm filling it out on, so far I have 12 pages. I might shorten it a little, though, and the whole discussion is in the games section of the forum.

Quill: I'm sorry. I can't just leave something like this.

What people? I don't understand. The review I found was never published; the author wrote it on free time and effort and having to play through a horrible game.
I can easily see where you're coming from, at least. But a fictional game still exists in some form, in some kind of reality, and is played by people who then take ideas, positive or negative, from them, and are affected by those ideas in some way, big or small. To see sexism portrayed as something ideal, something normal, as it is portrayed in so many books and movies, when they see real life sexism, will they care?

^ I think Q was talking about the people who made the game.

Thanks R. Yes.

I was friends with a guy, he shared his flat with 2 computer programmers, they made games, they were so socially inept I cannot express with my limited vocabulary.
They loved the coding, the writing didn't matter.
It's a fake target.

Focus on real sexism, fight it.
The person who wrote the review has an agenda, doesn't get off their arse to fight anything.

Keep your eye on the true target.

I'll just go and delete the whole thing, and never speak of it again. I will, however, keep my Samus poster.
