I learned this a while ago, but my husband almost didn't survive in utero. Makes me sad thinking about it. :(

I learned that "vixen", meaning a female fox or a beautiful woman, sounds the same as an offensive phrase in German that means "to jerk off".

This was after seeing a video game for the Amiga called Vixen in English-speaking countries. The title was changed to She-Fox in Germany.

refusal to go to the bathroom because of anxiety can cause a "paradoxical" form of diarrhea in children.

I learned about the different efforts at some US and UK universities to promote gender-neutral third-person pronouns. There are quite a few of them around being used. Hopefully one of them sticks, so that we don't have to keep saying "he or she" in English; plenty of other languages already have gender-neutral options. But if it all comes to naught in English, I'll just stick with singular "they".

Found out through a post on here that I'm probably "active but odd", which I find intriguing.

Spent over half a century not knowing I was an aspie btw.

I learned that this called a culvert. I didn't know what they were called, because I just called them drainage pipes.

I learned that, if you're as bad as I am at making others understand you can't speak at the moment, you'd better be ready to speak at any time, even if you're on your own and in a situation in which you rarely need to talk to anyone. Better not let some flimsy excuse, like having a monumental cold and not finding any good place to spit a lot of phlegm, prevent your voice from being heard on demand, lest someone ask for directions and you offend them when they can't understand your awkward gestures and you resume walking.

Judging by the way and the language in which he yelled at me, I think I narrowly escaped a beating ... for now.

Declawing a cat is more than removing their nails.
