Yes Froya, it is mid winter here now, 2 months away from Whitebaiting season. It is an area of fishing we are actually allowed to catch and sell ( within reason) without the tax man coming after us. Also because they are so small there is no need for them to be processed through a licensed fishmonger. So its a nice thing to be able to do during the late winter months as some of the areas are just nice to sit by and start a small camp fire and absorb nature... I have been somewhat void of the connection with nature over the last couple of years which saddens me greatly so hope i can experience what i used to again soon, maybe this coming season may be different.

Generally we eat them as fritters. just some egg whites beaten with an eggyolk, some salt and pepper and maybe a squeeze of lemon.
How did your fishing with your friend go the other day?
I sharpen all my hooks again now even if new unless they are the more expensive brand as i was also missing catches, but seems since sharpening them my strike rate went up...
I googled whitebaiting and fritters, so I know what you are talking about. How do you catch them, from the boat? The campfire sounds lovely. I would probably get too restless for such a thing being alone.
It seems like there is possible to buy something similar as that sharpener. It is called a diamond whetstone. I have written it down on my "to do" list.
The weather was perfect when Anne and I went fishing. We bought some food that we enjoyed outdoors. We didn't see any sign of fish however, not a single bite.
The day after I went down there alone, and then I caught a mackerel!
