There's supposed to be a hurricane hitting Texas today. I just remembered, but maybe I slept through it.

This is how bored I am, I actually want a hurricane to come through here.

There hasn't been one in my area since Hugo in 1989. We've had remnants of a bunch of others and the rain was exciting, but that was it. :x

I've lived in Houston for 27 1/2 out of nearly 29 years, and I have only experienced one major hurricane--Alicia, in 1983. Though we had a close call with Rita in 2005. I was caught up in the evacuation, and it took 19 hours to get to a small town in east Texas--which normally takes just over 2 hours.

I may eventually leave Texas.

We never had a hurricane in my area. About once every 20 years we'll get a small tornado. I've never seen one.

I remember Hugo well.

I was about five years old. I watched trees get pulled out of the ground and thrown like rag dolls. I was watching all that happen with only a screen door to protect me. Which brings me to this thought, why did my parents let me stand there? 8O

I remember getting 32" of snow about 12 years ago. It was pretty cool. :)

I just remembered this time when I was about six. My family went to stay at our grandparents' house, because it was on stilts and there was supposed to be a hurricane. For some reason my brother and I kept calling it a volcano instead of a hurricane. We kept insisting that the volcano was coming, and then are parents let us watch The Wizard of Oz. I can't think of a scarier time for that movie. We all just have a warped sense of humor.

My third year of college at the University of Miami I went through Andrew. That was quite an experience.

Hurricanes must be so scary. I don't particularly want to see one ever.
