I removed my label because it was making me itch.

What does that mean exactly? :) You felt stigmatized too? So you stopped telling people? Or you got them to remove AS from your medical records? If you did that, how did you go about doing it?

Not exactly stigmatised.
I was discriminated against because I thought it was ethical to tell certain people.
That was a mistake.
Removing my label means I think of myself as me, not as an autistic.

Well my story is a long one! But was formally diagnosed a few days ago even though i have know for a few years now... Always felt and knew i was different from everyone else and treated accordingly... CAme out publicly here in my village when hearing about the showing of Vaxxed the had positive and negative consequences.
Yes do feel the sigma via peoples ignorance and arrogance about the spectrum this also includes doctors and so called health professionals...
It doesnt change me as such, just makes me realise i wasnt wrong on many things and that people in general can be total ignoramuses!

Biggles, I agree that it says more about the other person than about us when they discriminate... and I can SO relate about the health professionals; I had 2 nasty psychiatrists that thought nasty things about autism and about me because of my label. They even said and wrote untrue things about me.

Your'e talking s**t.

Your death day will be the worst dat oy your life.

Especially, if you're still alive, conscious and feeling pain and get dragged under a truck and rubbing against the road or you're caught in a burning building and the smoke doesn't knock you out first, and you FEEL every layer of your skin burning off of you until you die or you wind up in a car, sinking in a creek or a river and you can't open the doors and the water is filling up and SUDDENLY, the water goes over your nose and mouth and you know you can't get out and you can't hold your breath forever and you start to give out and need to take a breath BUT THERE'S ONLY WATER!

Those are the days that we have to not look forward to.

But no-one gets out of this life alive.

One way or the other, It's NOT GOING TO BE PLEASANT!!

That's why you die. That's why it's called death.

Aneurism, heart attack, being hit by a train, bus, truck> NO WAY OUT WITHOUT PAIN!!

^ If that is the case, then death shall be very pleasant indeed.

YUP, until you experience it.

And then tell me, whilst your flesh is being rubbed off the surface of a road under a Mack truck until you die, how pleasant that is!

Yes unfortunately that has been my experience. Last psychologist i saw asked about sarcasm, i mentioned been brought up in the SW of England, most of the conversations are based around light hearted sarcasm, it was hit and miss, sometimes got it but sometimes not but would laugh off... She wrote in my report. '' sarcasm likely to be aggressive''... Also brought up drugs. i Mentioned i am predominantly against them even though i have experimented with one or two and mentioned i fell asleep soon after. Mentioned i occasionally smoke pot to help calm the mind a little and allow me to get a better sleep... She then wrote , '' takes illicit drugs''... This coming from someone that didnt know anything about the spectrum and said she didnt like to give labels but didnt mind giving me false opinions stated as facts in my permanent medical report... If anything is going to make me aggressive its her actions! I am placid by nature and always have, its as if they are trying to brain wash me into becoming aggressive... Its kinda sick if you ask me! My doctor is no exception! The ASD specialist i saw a few days ago mentioned i should sack him immediately and seek a better doc, but living in a small village we dont have that luxury...

Unfortunately the people you are sometimes trying to get help from can actually make things much much worse. Not a day goes by now that i dont reflect on what she wrote and has said.

I can delete my medical records, considering that's what the law here says should happen with them anyway. Also that's because some idiots decided to pay everyone more for deleting things than nearly any healthcare profession before ever subsidizing either the patient care in any way nor the real bioinformatic & medical instruments tech we spend years on deploying.

Before anyone asks I'm no longer 'quantifying' myself in any scientific way because I learned that without electronics anyway; that said, one heart rate monitor here & there is good for everybody. The amount of data people slurp from these things is ridiculous.

Wait... one can DELETE their medical records where you are???

Where I am, at the hospital I go to for therapy, they keep everything and still have all the documents from every patient since 100 years ago when the hospital opened. An aide told me they have a room full of one person's files from when she was born there to when she died there. There are about 4 big binders full of MY files, and one guy told me he has 7 with them.

Yeah, eventually. But the pain you'll experience before the transition will be EXCRUCIATING!

I've spent a long time taking care of such business.
