i use capitals in formal correspondence and in handwritten missives, but i have poor manual dexterity which makes using capitals when typing difficult. i choose the fast and easy way with friends.

^ My manual dexterity isn't what it was either but I have this weird urge lately to do the most fiddly, painfully perfectionist things to prove to myself I am not useless.

I have a lot of trouble with keyboards.
Touchscreen with autocomplete is easier.
