My father replied to me in a very stereotypical Asian way when I was telling him about my plans for summer vacation. Once I mentioned volunteering to plant trees around the city, he cut me off, told me that it was dangerous and that a girl shouldn't be doing that. He also said, "Why do you want to do this? You want to plant trees as a living? No! Focus on becoming doctor!" 
I laugh at it now, but I was a bit irritated at him when he said that.

Hmm. It's getting quite cold here also, but I'm still able to go outside in shorts without much of a problem, so...
