Well, it's my favorite anime character (Envy from FMA) and a quote from one of my favorite poems ("Death Be Not Proud" by John Donne) ... How can this not be awesome?

A picture I took myself last year at Victoria Station on the London Underground. It's the gap between the platform and a refurbished 'D stock' EMU to be specific

Read all about it on Wikipedia

Mine is a famous wartime motivational poster that I'm quite fond of.

Mine is the vampire Eli from the Swedish film Let the Right One In - great film, great book (US translation for the novel is 'Let Me In' I think, it's Déjame Entrar in Spanish). It's a story about loneliness, love, acceptance, loyalty, etc. I identify to some extent with the two main characters - Oskar, bullied and lonely, is somewhat like I was at his age though I never had so much rage inside (I wasn't nearly as badly bullied); Eli is inherently an outsider, and profoundly lonely - but has very human cravings for love and company. But Eli's outsider status is more profound than Oskar's, and is more profoundly abnormal - I can identify with that more.

The ermine represents the true AS soul, imo. Or for me it does.... solitary, seclusive, witty, a bit ambiguous at times (~changing colour from foxlike red to white/ summer and winter fur), random sleeper, very aggressive when cornered, little but not to be messed with, strange bend in the back, omnivorous, withdrawn, aloof but seeing things very clearly, understanding things but staying silent about it.... blah (3x).

Mine actually has a lot of thought behind it. I wanted to pick a character from a film/tv show that I can see a shred of myself in, and I can see a little of myself in Benjamin L. Willard: A thousand yard stare, a troubled conscience and surreal surroundings, and someone who is struggling with depression and apathy. I also love Apocalypse Now, it's a true masterpiece

mine is a robot from the series "lost in space".
for anyone who has never seen it, here is a full body shot.
Image
it was only referred to by it's model number once in the entire series. it was every other time referred to as "robot".
i used "b9" on another site as well, and i almost decided to choose a different avatar pic before i joined here.
as well as the B9 pic, here is the short list i was contemplating for my avatar here.

---------------------

Image
which would have looked like this as an avatar:
Image
it does not look good at 64x64. it is supposed to be "the attention from my eye" (i called this picture that, and i created the picture)

------

i also was possibly going to use this pic, but i thought that i can not talk with that picture representing me because that bird is so sweet and innocent. he is my friend. also it would impute an artificially innocent and sweet aspect to me which is not the case. it would not be honest of me to talk behind the guise of this beautiful little one.
Image

this is what the avatar would have looked like

Image

----

i very much was saddened by this old car and i also kind of wanted to use his picture, but i could not as it would make me seem like i am a sad person. he is a very old and lonely cat. he does not represent me as i am so i would be casting myself in a light that does not really describe me.

Image

here is the avatar version.

Image

--------
then i thought i may use a picture with "attitude" as i was sterile on the previous forums (with the b9 and the xb-70 avatars) and i thought it may be good to choos a pic that had major facial expression.
i like this picture because it reminds me of a person who is violently passionate about what they are asserting. (i think it is funny (i do not ever feel that way myself))
but again, the picture would have conveyed an inaccurate image of the real me.

Image

avatar version:

Image

------------

then i thought that i would use a picture of the real me, but i could not settle on any facial expression that best suits me.
so i thought i may use a picture of the back of my head as a joke.

Image

avatar would be like:

Image

i realized that that joke would be short lived, and i always keep the same avatar for the duration of my membership on any forum. i did not want to be bound to that image, so i again chose the robot's image because it expresses how i am well, and it is not expressive in a way that connotes a personality or image. it is sterile and so am i (almost)

My avatar is a dolphin that I drew on the computer when I was in 7th grade. I used to use a photo of a dolphin, but then other people started using the same one, so I use the one that I drew now.
