Rhinos.

If only for the fact that having a pet rhino would be awesome. They could keep your house safe, make your lawn tidy... relatively... and would be totally safe for children to play with... as long as they didn't go anywhere near their calves.

They already domesticate some wolves. I would like to have a wolf or lion as a pet. A pet owl would also be cool.

I'd Love a big lion. A male one, with it's big paws and giant face and huge mane. And since the male ones are supposidly lazy I'd never have to walk him. And I could brush his hair, and it'd be amazing. And they can gaddam roar. far better than meowing. gawd I want a lion...

Wolves and leopards after years led to domesticating and having dogs and cats. So what big animal would you want domesticated or in a not wild/small package etc? IMO a bear seems interesting. :-)

Don't you mean African Wild cats Felis silvestris? Leopards (Panthera pardus) have never been domesticated. Anyhow, I would like for meerkats to be domesticated so people would stop saying it's so wrong for me to want one of my own. An animal does not need to be "domesticated" in order to be friendly and comfortable around humans. People in Africa and in the UK keep meerkats as pets and report they are nice and even get upset if an owner must go away for a while. Domestication doesn't equal friendlness and comfortable around humans. Why do vets suggest you socoliase a new puppy as much as possible if they are born trusting humans?

valkyrieraven88- You can keep those as pets if they are legal where you live.

That would be... interesting.

Although considering the way they solve disputes within their family groups, I'd say keeping them around so we could learn something from them would be a very good idea

Yeah, I actually looked it up as a joke to tell my boyfriend we could get one. But my parents said they won't keep it at their house and he probably can't keep it in his apartment. We technically live in Illinois, and I'm pretty sure it would be legal here, but it would be expensive to get one and it might not like my kitty. :( I love my kitty.

My mother told me once that she had a friend growing up who had a pet raccoon. It liked to chew bubble gum.
