Apologies. Well said, though. And I like your writing style.

Well, that was rude. I was simply asking a question to further understand your point, not belittle you.

Also, I meant "you are" in that case.

The lack of grammar on this forum is ridiculous! I couldn't care for those who clearly don't put any effort in to have good grammar but the ones who do and still make mistakes are just infuriating! I have seen more than one person get confused with their does, didn't and done. It really makes me feel ashamed that people with a condition of which supposedly makes them smarter than the rest can be so stupid.

Does anyone else find this annoying?

i do this: Your to you're.
Then to than.
FAILURE TO CAPTIALIZE
BLOCKED TEXT
missing words, etc.

does this bother me? yes, when I see it myne.

Does it bother me when I see it in elsewhere ? Absolutely not.

Does this meen IM DUMB oR ignorant? :P

I didn't feel you were attempting to belittle me nor did I take any offense at your post.

I'm terribly sorry if you took what I wrote to be rude. I certainly could have phrased it better. I was simply trying to clarify a point. I thought your input was valuable and was simply trying to continue the conversation. I thought I understood what you were saying.

My apologies for any misunderstanding.

how hard can it be to just stop all this contention and simply love one another?

It is entirely possible that I completely misunderstood the post and this is all my mistake. I sometimes read things that are properly structured sentences and it takes me a few tries to figure them out. Perhaps I was too quick to assume the error was someone else's and not mine.

Please, let's not allow this to get out of hand.

Again, I am sorry if I caused any offense.

I really don't get upset by bad grammar... well, unless it looks so wrong that it looks something like this...

I think, Hhjdskf, jdsadhhh dklieflkdnjsdlkfjl sdkjhtuyrweoipkjjhhgxhgft fgrfsghhttfhtdrjk jdajdhfhughvbloieuhguilfsfdiughrleiuli ehgljdhfkshoeitrihtuy hoijjbuygkuynygytfdtuiligbyfrdwa rhtfyhitfkyfuyfyugylig uygkygyufrsestluohgffdfjfdkdydktdkliug tftrdetit oeoeigoehjfl sjsjf'wijdf'apdifjd. So, do you agree?

...Otherwise, I can put two and two together and figure out what people are saying even without proper punctuation or spelling. Also there's something about casually talking on the internet that just has people not always caring about grammar. I'd have to say the only reason someone should be pissed about bad grammar is if they bought a book and it was littered with the stuff

I ask myself this every time a dispute erupts. I think many people are not aware that they are capable of having compassion even for those they disagree with.

 :P

To answer the OP: my initial reaction is annoyance, but I have learned:

1. That that is my problem.

2. That the point of communication is to communicate something, and getting annoyed over a message that makes its point well but misses a few technical points is missing the point.

3. That constant harping at people about how they used the wrong word or used a comma when they should have used a semicolon seriously hampers the flow of conversation.

4. That if I get on my high course about correct punctuation, spelling and syntax, I'll be guaranteed to make a glaring error in that post or the next one.

Also: AS is not a condition that causes one to be more intelligent.
: Having poor writing skills does not necessarily mean that one is stupid.

Poor grammar annoys me when it makes it difficult to understand what the person is saying or writing. I won't complain too much since my grammar and spelling are not always of the very finest, but I do appreciate it when someone makes the effort to make themselves understood clearly and plainly.

Ultimately, I feel the issue comes down to communication. If you can efficiently communicate your meaning in an utterly un-grammatical manner, then you have accomplished the assumed goal in the transaction. In that instance grammar is irrelevant. But mostly, good grammar is the best way to efficiently communicate, so I would advocate it.

Example:

"Don't kill Jagatai."

"Don't kill, Jagatai."

These two sentences are saying different things. Therefore, you are irritated because of the mistake of leaving out the comma, or are you not irritated because one has the ability to infer what the person meant based on context?

I didn't notice any differences with the grammar in that sentence after reading it 5x. I noticed after I read the rest of the post.
I find when i read post fast; I tend to notice the errors a lot less & I understand it fine & know the context. If I read things slow & try to analyze the grammar; I get confused more. I know some people who are great in english who recommend trying to read post fast when you notice bad grammar because it's easier to understand that way. I read slow & I still don't notice lots of times

One is saying to not kill him, and the other is saying to him not to kill.
