I just checked the email address that I registered for this forum. He's sent me an offensive email too, the offensive little c***. I am seriously getting pissed off. First the spamming by atomic-psycho, now this.

We're talking someone with a grudge against this site, or probably just aspies in general.

I've deleted his email. Is it the latest fashion in cracking to crack BBSes and post offensive messages on them?

Don't worry. Any problem can be solved with the proper application of enough tea.

It's summer over here. I only drink tea in colder weather.

Cold herbal tea or a latte.

Tea = Coffee for this exercise.

Regardless, I'm rather nervous about the safety of our accounts. :(

As I said in the other thread it's unlikely he'll get anything besides our e-mails.

What do you know about the nature of BBS accounts?

People tend to expect the best.

I expect the worse. And those with the power of perception are called cynics by those not in posession of it.

I've emailed Alex. What time is it over there?

5 or 6 am on Eastern US Sea Board

I know they usually scramble data in such a way that not even Alex could get it.

Our passwords are safe.

Mine's so mind-numbingly simple you'd slap yourself in the face!

Okay, I probably shouldn't have said that...

*shuts up about passwords*

it's obviously a script kiddie. at least it's not malicious. if they have access to change the page header, it means they have access to other areas of code and since they haven't deleted anything, that means that they're probably just bored.

Ditto. A script kiddie uses ready-made hacking tools, right? They're viewed with contempt by the rest of the "hacker" community.

Unless of course any of us chose a word (or part of a word) that could be found in a dictionary. There are password cracking programs that run a list of words (or in some cases a whole dictionary) through the same scrambling algorithm used to store the passwords and then compare it against the password file. Any matches can be decoded into the dictionary words the passwords were made from.

considering the nature of the hack....it's more likely than not some script kiddie.

Am I the last person online to NOT know what "pwned" even means ? Obviously it's some sort of rude "gotcha !" assertion of perceived power. I'm not playing other people's games & don't wish to be subjected to this sort of bull, I just want this site to function well/reliably. Snarl...
