Don't name your kids after cities or norse dieties. That's stupid. They are human beings, not those dumb little fashion-accessory dogs that fit in your purse.
This is really good advice. I am a white lady from the U.S.
My parents gave me a weird name. My first name is after a Hindu deity. I am not a Hindu. Sometimes people assume I am a Hare krishna.
My middle name is after the lyrics of a psychedlic rock song. So, when a teacher, even in college, said, "I can't pronounce your first name, what's your middle name?" things would get really akward.
I have had trouble cashing checks. I reported a violent crime in progress and the police wasted time hassling me because they didn't believe my I.D. was real. Hindus have gootten angry with me because my name is a boys' name. No one believes it's my real name.
So...please be careful. Your kids will need to get jobs and rent apartments some day.
There. I feel better.
