So would I. I usually just sit on my own in my flat and watch the odd bit of TV and have my seasonal Bisto roast chicken ready meal and maybe a few mince pies.

This actually sounds quite a cosy set up, Rossall.

Yes, and some booze of course. Hopefully should have my new carpets, blinds and sofa by then. :)

Christmas wouldn't be anything without booze. :P

Any specific examples of online holiday parties from recent years?

I remember my last party.
I was 7 years old.

It was carnival.
A classmate of mine dressed as a devil opened the door for me.

He was so happy and amazed that I had come.

So did the others at the party.

The difference was that I felt "out of place" and was dressed normally.

Besides I couldn't wait for it all to end.

Now that friend of mine is no longer here. He died young.

When I can I go to visit him in a not nice place.

He has a smiling face in the photo.

He was my friend for 5 years of school.

I don't even know what he died of and I accidentally saw his image while going to that place.

I felt terrible about it.

Parties: I understand your intention and it is an original idea.

But I'm not suitable.

I was often invited to the real ones.

Maybe because of my appearance: I remember there were two girls in the last time.
They chose who to bring.

One absolutely wanted me to go.

I didn't know how to say no.

And I didn't want to say yes and then not go.

*I am also uncoordinated in moving.

And I was so strange in what I did, it never affected my friendships (I was lucky), or my relationships.

For you these are nice things, I'm sorry, I would give you my opportunities and invitations in exchange

After a thread I'm selecting those to write to and others to never write again.

I saw your nickname and Blitzkrieg's, that's why I responded.

I am sorry to hear of your friend that has died, Huckleberry Finn.

Thank you for the mention of my username in your post! :)

2) You're funny Blitzkrieg!
1) Sorry if I mentioned my friend.
But I hadn't seen him since I was 10 years old.

It was he who opened the door for me with a smile.

He didn't believe I would come.

Not even the others.

They were so happy.

Then you know Blitzkrieg, I saw Riccardo again with the same identical smile, he was a very good person.

And I didn't expect to see him there.

He had just grown up, same exact way of looking and smiling.

I was very impressed.

You know, among us, many young people die of cancer.

The area is very polluted.

<>

Sorry for my sentence, I wrote without thinking that it would arouse emotional reactions.

<>

I struggle with emotions.

But I understand friendship very intensely.

I have this luck

<>

I don't feel happiness about a party.

But I'm alexithymic and I don't understand some feelings.

Generally we all have them, but some are missing in me.

Hate, love, happiness, I have never understood them.

If not rationally.

<>

If I understand rationally I become empathetic.

Instinctively, however, it doesn't come naturally to me.

<>
You know, I've noticed that most people with autism have a lot of pleasure in these types of occasions.

I don't fall into that percentage.

But I'm happy that you exist, I'm happy to know that there are people who understand and value feelings.

Even a written sentence made me think.

It's about nostalgia for a bygone time of inviting neighbors.

It makes you think because even those who are not alexithymic still have great difficulty in social relationships in real life.

I think that if you are funny and ironic here, you could be funny anywhere ;)

i think the logical place, for PR purposes as well as its appropriateness in the eyes of anybody who comes upon this sight, would be the Getting To Know Each Other subforum. i for one would love to participate. :santa: mebbe some of us at least could submit pics of our respective xmas displays or costumes?

I'll be the old guy sitting in the corner, rocking, eating all your peanut-butter fudge, and talking to your cat.

I love plum pudding!

I'll bring some sandwiches. Boring, but good for soaking up alcohol. I plan on drinking lots of alcohol! Mostly punch and eggnog. Those things should be placed together. Then I can just sit next to those things for the whole party! Until I get up to do some drunken dancing. I really want to do some drunken dancing.

I'm going to bring a karaoke machine too... But put it in a separate soundproof room so it won't bother any hearing sensitive types that don't want to hear it.

Thinking about this Christmas party is probably the happiest and most excited I've felt in ages. Thank you to who came up with the idea!

We should have virtual versions of every normal life thing that many us miss out on, like having a sleepover at a friends house, having a girls night (with face masks and silly make up and romantic movies (I don't know what happens on a girls night so that is just a guess)), pub crawls, school proms, even typical days at work.I get the impression that so many of us have missed.out on normal life. I'd be happy with a virtual normal life.

Thank you for your kind words, Huckleberry Finn.

It's okay to not be happy about parties. I think if a lot of people are honest with themselves & others - they would say that often parties, actually disappoint, or that they don't enjoy them at all.

It really depends on the individual I guess! :)

Work hours willing, I'd be up for this. I'm way too antisocial in the winter for an in-person Christmas party, but this is right up my street.
