In my opinion no this world isn't real. Its just preparation.....
But because you have been trained to think in a western fashion you would probably think I'm crazy if I explained it in detail so I'll leave you with this term you can study if you so please:
Samadhi
I would love to here what you have to say.

Samadhi is described in different ways within Hinduism such as the state of being aware of one’s Existence without thinking, in a state of undifferentiated “Beingness" or as an altered state of consciousness that is characterized by bliss (ananda) and joy (sukha).
An excerpt from when I was trying to get there
Me wrote:
I had been here once, that I knew. I was back in a realm beyond words, beyond existence. I was here before I was born.
The beings stared at me, and I knew what they were saying without communicating verbally. I had no body to speak with outloud, how we were communicating I am unaware but I know we were. The beings were displeased with my being there. I was a child compared to them, and they were my elders. They were beings that deserved to be where they were, here on the plane beyond time and space. They had already gone to the white light, they were there and I was cheating. I was trying to put myself on their plane without going through the experiences it genuinely takes to achieve that level of spiritual maturity. It felt as though they may have been the ones that sent me away. Of this I am not sure, but I know they wanted to help me. They wanted to bring me here with them, but until I was ready to be there with them I was required to stay back in my body. Until I was able to uncover the spiritual truth. My path to finding spiritual truth was something they were unable to help me with. I could see them but I must find the path on my own. The experience must've lasted only a couple of seconds but in this plane time was non existent. There was no end, there was no beginning, but I knew the beings were disappointed in me because I had cheated to be where I was, and they knew I was capable of much more. As I felt guilty for trying to be like them, being a kid and trying to be an adult when I was just simply not capable, I was being torn back into my body, my "soul" was returning to my physical self, and my mental self had died. I was not me anymore. I was merely a body with a soul forcefully attached. It was about that time I was able to see the physical realm of existence that we live in, and I noticed that my body had been crying while I left it. Not a significant amount, but a single stream of tears had run down my left cheek, and run to my chin. It was beautiful, so unreal, and so scary at the same time. I knew who I had been, who I was, and I knew why I was here on earth... It was simply because I was not ready to experience the greater plane. My spirit would be unable to comprehend the billions of "thoughts" and strands of knowledge going throughout the plane. While I was still trapped in my body by trying to do this it would require my physical death to stay on the plane forever.
