Something has to be said about the tongue-in-cheek nature of the song. In fact, Aqua is part of a whole genre of music from Europe where it is all a ruse, that every song drips in sarcasm.

European dance songs are supposed to be taken at face value - there's no sarcasm in them. They're just supposed to be fun and happy.

Not Scandinavian Twee. Toybox and Aqua are all about tongue-in-cheek.

I confess...

Wrong thread, but I confess I actually like this song. It's a cheerful summer tune that reminds me of some of the songs I grew up with, like "Kansas City".

I may kill this thread and be the laughingstock of this forum, but I can't stand Fergalicious by Fergie. I was at a rollerskating rink and heard that song and complained to the DJ, but HE then put on Umbrella which I hate more than Fergalicious. Good thing I had my P2 with me so I can listen to my own music instead of that junk.

I agree. Both of those songs are awful, especially Umbrella.

There's a lot of popular music I dislike intensley. Then again, I'm sure most people would hate my collection of movie soundtrack scores so perhaps it's even.

I'm sorry, but I love Barbiegirl. I'd never seen the viddy. So thanks for that.

As for the ones I hate...most country. I lied. All country. Fergie ranks up there. Rap does too. Black eyed peas. Most mainstream pop music makes me physically ill.

I have a transmitter for my MP3 player, so I don't have to listen to the radio much. thank god.

My personal criteria for me to not enjoy a song are:
1. Even at little volume, you still have hearing damage.
2. Unintelligible lyrics to the point that you still really find it hard to believe the lyrics when you read the words.
3. Sorry, but I do not enjoy much screamer music.
4. Music that degrades. (There is a very fine line here) (Well, there goes 50-99% of modern music.)
5. I will admit, sometimes lyrics just get in the way, or the singers cannot. (sing)
So that is a nutshell version of what a small part of my music qualification system is.

I get annoyed by songs that simply repeat the
same lines over and over again. It seems to be
a gimmick in the British charts at the moment,
e.g. the chorus from a recent Scouting For Girls
hit
" She's So Lover-ley
She's So Lover-ley
She's So Lover-ley
She's So Lover-ley "

It reminds me of chanting that goes on at
football matches like
" Who Are Ya ?
Who Are Ya ?"

At work, we need to play a half-hour or so long video all day on an endless loop. It's mostly commercials for new games, interviews with guys making games, etc. But they always throw in a handful of songs that are in various games. Most are generic pseudo rock/metal/punk that you can block out pretty easily, but every month there is one undeniably phenomenally fantastically annoying song.
Last month was 'girlfriend' by Avril Lavigne.
This month is "Bananas' by Gwen Stefani.

And while I'm on the subject of bananas, here's an equally annoying song:
Ring Ring Ring

anything of Justin Timberlake's last album.

...i take that back. every album Justin Timberlake's ever appeared on.

that "Photograph" song by Nickelback. i seriously wanted to fight people when this song comes on.

anything by Phil Collins.
anything by Celine Dion.
anything from Jessica Simpson's Christmas album.
"Maneater" by Hall and Oates.
"Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister.

and "Yeah!" by Usher. most annoying song ever. the whole thing is 8 notes and a drum beat. his producer should die.
