Well today he sprayed against the wall. I tried to get him away from the wall by yelling NO.
But he still kept doing it. He's fixed so I don't think he should be doing this kind of thing. I also keep his litter, water, and everything clean. He's a pretty spoiled cat but he needs to know his place.
I've granted him many priveledges under my care but incontinence is a no no in my place. This trailer is very small and old so it's hard keeping everything maintained let alone the dang rent.
The shelter I'm taking him back to is the one I got him from, I can't say it's a no kill place but I'm sure someone will want him.
Never unless you want to make it worse. The mind of a cat is very different from that of a dog. He is spaying for a reason, likely he thinks he's protecting you and his terretory. Cats spray as a reaction to being nervous about a potential threat, and by feeling disturbed. By punishing him you are basically telling him 'yes, there is good reason to be on your guard and spray'.
First question: Has anything really changed about the time he started spraying?
Second question: You mentioned you have two cats, is his litter tray, food station, bed, play area in a different place from the other cat? ie. preferably not even in the same room, and at the very least a good few metres apart - more for litter tray.
Third question: When did he start spraying?
Fourth question: Think back, where was his very first spray located exactly? - preferably indicated with reference to nearby windows, doors, cat flaps if not accompanied by a small map of your house indicating mentioned places and locations of all his things, litter tray, food station, etc. (This is very important to be able to tell why he is spraying in the first place)
Fifth question: Does he still go in his litter tray?
Six: Is he solely spraying, or is he also doing wees and poos? Does he make any effort to cover it up after doing so?
Seventh: Not sure if you've mentioned this - but what are you using to clean it up?
Oh and really glad its a april fools
