Cross-posted from the "Got Anything Random To Say" thread, because I like this thought too much to contain it in just a single thread. In retrospect I probably should have posted it here in the first place, because that thread moves quite fast and it was close to the bottom of the page. Oh well.

I sometimes wonder when my current special interests will end, and what my next special interest might be. When I was a teenager my interests were kind of predictable because they were all anime series.
If you would have gone back in time to my teenage years and told me that starting from the age of 19 I would be obsessed with Johnny Depp movies, I would have laughed at you in disbelief. Back then I had not yet seen any of his films but was tired of all of my classmates falling in love with him. Therefore I thought of him as most people now think of Robert Pattinson - a pretty face with no substance. I'm glad I proved myself wrong.
It just goes to show that I never know what the next thing to capture my imagination will be. Nothing can be ruled out as an interest until I try it. The unpredictability is both exciting and frightening. My mom once said of my interests, "I never know what to expect from you each year. It's always a surprise to see what you'll be into next."
