I love conkers. The trees are in flower at the moment and look beautiful. They are not native to the UK, they were introduced in the 1600s, but they are lovely.
They're stunning, aren't they?
My sister has a
huge Victorian garden and there's a magnificent specimen growing in it, but like so many others in the UK it gets its leaves damaged by Horse Chestnut leaf miners. Over the past few years the leafiness has become progressively thinner, dying back earlier - and the poor thing looks very bedraggled.
Give it another month or so and it will start to look like it's Autumn - on just one tree!
